I continued to play with my phone as I waited for the telephone to ring.
I work in an office, a big one, to be specific. My job isn't that hard anyway. All I have to do is answer phone calls from clients and appoint them schedules to meet my boss.
"Jung Hoseok, any calls?" My officemate, Kim Seokjin, peeked at me. I shook my head with a bright smile on my lips.
"Today seems like a slow day, I guess."
"By the way, someone got recently hired to work here. She'll be coming today. I heard she was our current boss's ex." He said as he chewed on some sticky rice cakes.
"Yah, you aren't supposed to be eating in the office!" I whispered to him as I held in a laugh.
"What are you gonna do about it? Make me spit it out?" He said in a muffled voice. I rolled my eyes and immediately turned to the door when a girl walked in. She wore a striped pencil skirt and an off-white polo.
She was carrying a big box holding her belongings and I couldn't help but notice her face as she struggled to hold the box up.
I stood up from my seat and went to her. "Let me help you with that..." I lifted the box from her grasp.
She looked at me and bowed, "Th-thank you. I didn't expect someone to come up to me at my first day."
"Ahhh, you must be the newbie! Nice to meet you. I'm Jung Hoseok. You can call me Hobi for short." I introduced myself with a bright face.
She smiled back at me and I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was. "Nice to meet you, too. I'm (y/n)." She stretched her hand out for me to shake.
My heart skipped a beat when my hand touched hers. Her hand was warm and smooth, to the point I didn't want to let go.
"Hobi? You're spacing out." I snapped back to reality once her voice ran through my ears.
I laughed awkwardly but maintained my bright smile. "Sorry. I'm quite known to do that."
She waved it off as she ran her hands down her flowy hair.
"Where should I put your things?" I looked around but didn't see any vacant space to put her belongings.
She pointed to my boss's office. "I'm his secretary. He said there's a room connected to his- which is where I'm supposed to work in."
I nodded and bowed down as I saw our boss, Jeon Jungkook, look at us with his brow raised.
(Y/n) bowed down behind me to show respect to him. We swiftly went past him and to her office, which was quite big.
"Are you sure you're going to be alright as his secretary? I heard you two have a history..." I trailed off, realizing I'm talking too much again.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to blurt those things out-"
"Its fine. Its true anyway. I already cut all ties with him two years ago. But that man still kept saying he loves me." She sighed.
"Are you going to get back together with him?" I said in a small voice. She smiled and shook her head. "I don't repeat things. They're tiring."
I smiled at what she said. "Well, it was nice talking to you, (y/n). See you around the office."
I waved at her and left, stealing a glance at Jungkook.
I sat back and opened my phone. "Was she nice?" My eyes almost popped out of my sockets when Jin's voice sounded by my shoulder.
"Shit, you scared the hell out of me." I patted my chest. His windshield laugh made me roll my eyes and turn my attention back to my phone.
