Insecurity

It was 8:00 a.m. and everyone had lots to do, not to their knowledge; unfortunately. A young Adrien Agreste was packing for his three-month stay in Paris while his sister, Camylla requested for a day-off from work on a call. She decided to grab a cup of coffee and some treats on her way to the airport. The airport was far so it took at least a few hours to get there.

She checked Adrien's flight information before reviving the engine of her car. He will be arriving at 1:30. The blonde stuffed her phone into her jacket pocket and headed for the Dupain-cheng bakery; yes, dupain-cheng as in Marinette's parents' bakery.

She always stopped by and bought treats everyday; and not just because they served the best pastries in Paris but also because she loved it there. The bakery was run by both Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng, it amazed her how, despite their divorce that had taken place 8 years before; they could still work together. They must really love their jobs considering how tolerant and dedicated they are.

Camylla is good friends with Marinette's parents and took most of her day-offs just to talk to them about their daughter's past. Sometimes it was about a joyful occasion like the bluenette's 5 year old birthday and sometimes well, things took turns for the worst. The psychiatrist didn't just do that because she loved her job, years passed and she kept on feeling guilty for not managing to help the poor misguided girl, even though countless people told her that it was okay and not her fault; she knew that it was her job; and who would hire or be proud of someone who can't even do their job?

Today, Sabine had called and told her that she had exciting news to share; she couldn't wait to hear it. Having not been to the bakery for two weeks had made her miss the homemade cultural Parisian delicacies and sweet smell of fresh baked cookies, cakes and multiple types of pastries. Her favorite however, were macaroons; just like Marinette. According to Tom and Sabine, the asylum couldn't have chosen her a better doctor; but she had doubts. The Cesaire Asylum often tried hiring and welcoming new, young and famous psychiatrists all around the world but the bluenette would only talk to her, just her.

But why?

She wondered. Did she somehow feel more comfortable around her? the very thought intrigued her.

The blonde came to a stop once the bakery came into view. She smiled, it was only 8:15, she had time for breakfast and of course, a few stories.

The bell chimed as she pushed the door open and she felt a quiet sense of home. Her home wasn't and never was anything like that; flour covered floor, leftover cookie dough and sweet treats lying around everywhere the eyes landed; but she felt like it should've been. This should have been home, it would be every child's dream to live a life like this, but little did anyone know that the one child who did grew up into a merciless psychopath. Suddenly, a thought popped into her mind; what if this is what made her a psycho? Being too innocent and one day the truth dawned her, and it was too much to take in all at once. One more hypothesis added, she thought.

Her mind was flooded with conclusions, filled to the brim with possible answers. Distracted, she didn't realize the cold winter air gushing though the open bakery door, and there she stood in between it all; peace and the chaos that tried to break in. Camylla stayed frozen in thought before Sabine saw her and pulled her into a hug while closing the bakery door.

She finally crashed back into reality. Harsh, but she was used to it.

"Sabine! It's been a while,"

"A very long while! You haven't been here in two weeks! you must be starving,"

They both laughed and filled each other in with the details of the previous weeks, from how Marinette was doing to every time Tom accidentally bathed himself in flour while transporting the ingredients.
