Shattered

"You're back early," Adrien remarked, eyeing his sister curiously as she closed the front door of her apartment tiredly; thinking about the fact that Adrien had to leave had kept her up all night. But it gets worst; she didn't even tell him yet, she didn't have the heart to.

"Yup. But it's on a good note this time," A small smile appeared on her lips and Adrien beamed.

"Really? Is she getting better?" He asked, getting up from the couch and making his way to his sister who was now at the counter.

"Like you wouldn't believe," Her smile faltered and she faced the ground.

Not for much longer...

She thought silently. If he went back then Marinette would - without a doubt - fall back to the dark place she'd been imprisoned in before. She had to do something; and fast.

Adrien noticed his sister's sudden change of mood and frowned worriedly. "What's wrong? Isn't that a good thing?"

"It is..." She trailed off, not knowing what to do or say next; and that, for her was rare indeed.

The blonde crossed his arms "Cam, there's something you're not telling me," He gave her a stern look but then stared at her with growing concern. "Are you okay?"

I'll be fine....but she won't

She sighed and shook her head; dismissing the unsettling thoughts in her head. "I need to talk to you,"

"I'm all ears,"

"Last night, when you went to visit the asylum..you left your phone," She began, taking a deep breath "And then....Natalie called,"

Adrien frowned "That...can't be good,"

Well, I'll bet

She retorted silently; never really saying the words, they just slipped back into her memory back where they came from and would remain there forever; never fulfilling their purpose. Absentmindedly, she bit her lip; it was her habit that she did when she felt tense, awkward, nervous or unsettled. He thinks that it's bad, but it's not; it's terrible. "She....called to inform that your stay here has been cut short,"

His mouth fell open "W-What? How short?" She was scared to answer; he seemed to anxious to know and so terrified of the answer. And that wasn't even the worst part of the terrible news.

"Okay um, don't freak out or scream. Got it?" He was getting more worried; this wasn't going well. "Adrien, I'm sorry," She gave up on her attempts in to calm him down "You leave tonight,"

The sadness, rage, pain and shock expressed on his face was something Camyla Agreste never wanted to see ever again. He looked so torn, so done and so broken. Her protective older sister side showed up once again; in the past, if anyone caused that look on her brother's face then she would've beaten them to death. But now, it was different; she didn't know who to project her anger at. Natalie, for following her father's orders so nonchalantly, her father, for deciding to cut Adrien's time in Paris short in the first place; or herself, for delivering the news and having to see that heartbroken look on her own little brother's face.

"Adrien..." She put a hand on his shoulder. He was confused on what to feel. A pregnant silence followed, hanging in the air with a disturbing presence no one wanted to bring up. Finally, Adrien broke it "No," Camyla cocked an eyebrow "No what?"

"No," He just repeated determinedly "No, I'm not going back," He escaped her grip and shook his head relentlessly; pacing around the small apartment.

She took a few sharp breaths and started to do the same "What is wrong with father," She muttered; it was more of a statement than a question. "What else does he want? You're already having fun here and he wants to take that away from you-"
