It took an excruciating long drive and plane flight to Italy, yes you heard right Italy. The Volturi were some sort of cult or law or something? Their rules were the utmost and Edward decided to go there and plead to be killed, but Alice said they refused him so he was going to make a scene, break a rule so that they had no choice but to kill him. I guess vampires weren’t as bad as I thought I mean so far the only vampire I truly liked was Alice and Bella only got hurt because Jasper was new to the whole ‘vegetarian’ thing. Edward felt terrible for thinking that he was the reason behind my death, the reason behind the death of the love of his life’s sister that in justice he saw it as he should die too. So ok vampires weren’t as bad as I or even Jacob made out but I still didn’t like Jasper… or Rosalie for that matter, couldn’t she keep her mouth shut?
“Alice, why are they all dressed in red?” I ask, snapping my head from the window to the rear view mirror where Alice was staring at me.
“St.Marcus Day. St Marcus supposedly drove all the vampires out of town and now they hold this festival in his name every year. It’s the perfect plan, the Volturi would never let him get far enough in revealing himself” she explained as she sped her way in between cars.
“Alice why have we stopped!?” Bella frets.
“Fly you have to go now! I can’t leave because Edward will hear my thoughts and Bella can’t go because he’s prone to her scent, he'll rush into it. You’re the only one that can stop him now!” Alice explains, leaving my gobsmacked.
The sole reason for his ambition for death was me and I was now told to go running through these crowds of red hooded figures in search of the one vampire that changed my view on all these blood suckers. I jumped out the stolen car and found myself racing through crowds and dodging around corners until I saw it, the church. The doors began to open revealing and extra pale Edward Cullen. As the sun slowly made contact with his body his skin shined, like diamonds hitting the light. Did not see that coming. I ran as fast as I could, I leaped over the edge of a fountain, drenching my jeans in water as my adrenaline took control. I leaped over the fountain’s edge and found myself tackling Edward inside the large wooden doors.
“Fly?” he asked, his eyes springing open as he felt my warmth on his cold flesh.
“Yes. It’s ok, you don’t have to go through with this I’m so sorry! For the way I treated you!” I say out of breath and out of luck as a large pale man met us in the hallway.
“It isn’t your fault I just, I couldn’t handle your death being on my conscious. I knew that Bella would never forgive me.” There wasn’t much more to say or do but I just wanted him to know how sorry I really was. I pulled him in for a hug, it took him a moment to register what was happening seeing as last time I felt his hand on me I jerked away practically cursing him.
“Aro wants to speak with you again. We should take this conversation to a more appropriate venue” negotiated the intimidating pale man that had appeared before us.
“No rules were broken though!” I defend.
“Fly it’s ok, why don’t you go back outside and look for Bella” he says, taking a step forward in a protective manner.
“No the girl will come with us and so will the others when they arrive” said the Volturi.
“No Felix. You can go to hell” Edward replies.
“Come on guys, it’s a festival” Alice states as she and Bella loudly pushed the doors open and met us at our sides. It seemed as just as they entered a petite blonde vampire, Jane, came to meet us. Aro had sent her to collect us, her eyes were piercing red almost painful to stare at.
