Taking the week off from working and being a new mom was tough. Because on one hand you finally get to relax, but on the other hand it means that Spencer was going to be taking care of the twins on his own for the first time. Having a girl's night was what you needed though. Spencer was the one who finally convinced you to go with Emily, Tara, JJ, and Penelope to an island resort that Tara found out about. Finally giving in, you went with them. Before you left though, you made a schedule as to how take care of the twins seeing that this was going to be the first time that you're going to be leaving him alone with them. Spencer kept telling you that he had it under control and said that you didn't need to make a schedule for him because he had seen you do it and that he had to remind you that he has helped you do them. He knew when to feed them, put them down for naps, and when to take them out for walks since you both have done it many times together. He has always helped you ever since you dated and during your first year of marriage now going on the fourth, but this time he was more protective and was helping more around the house because he didn't want you to feel tired all the time. He's been doing all that since the beginning. Spencer wanted to make sure that they would always feel loved and know that he would never walk out on them or you like how his own father did.

When you found out you were pregnant with twins, he made sure you never did any heavy lifting or weren't in the room when he was painting the nursery unless you had a mask on, so you didn't breathe in any of the paint smell. You loved Spencer and nothing will change it, no matter how protective he is. He does understand that you can protect yourself it's just that in all of his relationships, he's never gotten to marriage and having children part and coming from him, he  wanted to make sure his family is never in harm's way, and you understood that and it also made you love him more because it showed how much he cared about his family whether they were blood related or not. You've seen him act the same way with the team. How he read almost every pregnancy book from when JJ was pregnant and she went in labor when in the field, or how he acted when someone was in trouble, and how he would risk his life so they can continue to live theirs. He cared about the people in his life more than he cared about himself and that was something that worried you, but you also loved that about him.

Arriving to the resort after getting off the plane, you decided to call Spencer and see how he was doing with the twins. You figured since it was nighttime for them you should call and say goodnight. After checking in and going up to you room, you got out your phone and called him.  Hitting his contact and pressing the call button, it started to ring and he picked up after the fourth ring

"Hello?" a sleepy Spencer answered

"Hey sleepyhead how's it going? The twins asleep yet?" you ask

"Yeah, yeah they fell asleep about 20 or so minutes ago. It took a while till I started to read them quantum physics. Hopefully it stays like that. They still have so much energy at night." he told you before continuing as he rubbed his eye trying to stay awake. He spent the whole day looking after one twin and going for the other. They were two months from being one years old and it the both of you so happy and sad because they were growing up but you didn't want them to grow up so fast

"How do you do it? I've read literally everything and timed out how fast I can finish with one before going to the other before both start to cry. I tried the skin to skin contact with them during their nap, and nothing. God I'm such a terrible father." he said putting his head in his free hand wiping away the tears that fell from his eyes

"Hey, listen to me, you are not a terrible father. You are the best father I've seen. Yes, it's a little hard since we had twins on the first try and we only knew how to take care of one from babysitting Henry when JJ and Will deserved some alone time, but it gets better and easier. I still want to cry every time they do that and think that I'm a terrible mother, but all of that comes as being parents. Remember how you used to get Henry to stop crying sometimes, you would always do some sort of magic trick to get him to laugh? Or you would read a dramatic piece and recreate it even though he didn't understand what was happening? You would do anything just to keep those little girls safe the way you want the team to be safe. Please, just don't doubt yourself on your skills as a father. They love you, and you love them. Listen, the girls want to go out and sightsee a bit before it gets dark. I love you and don't forget that you're an amazing and the best father and husband out there. Give them a kiss for me I miss them and you so much already." you tell him
