It is so bloody cold.
So Chaeyoung curses in her head. It has been raining pretty heavily for the past hours and there is still no sign of the rain stopping any time soon; the sky has been quite dramatic with the generous amount of water spilling from up above along with lightning that seems to be dancing competing with the speed of the wind that has been howling complementing the sound of the thunder. She just had her dinner and it is too early for a night owl as she is to sleep in at such an hour, so she settles herself comfortably on her massive couch in her living room whilst flipping through some books she has yet to finish. That is until her doorbell rings and makes her jump out of her couch as it abruptly breaks the stillness and silence in the room. It is probably too early for her to sleep but it is a wee bit too late for anyone to visit anybody's house and it is not as if she has been expecting anyone.
Yet, somehow Chaeyoung, who still has her heart hammered inside her chest, manages to ignore every kind word of every single living soul who advises her to at least make use of the peephole at her door before opening it for anybody because once she reaches for her door, she just casually opens it without any precautions. It is a good thing that the one at the other end of the door is not a murderer or any of the sort. Still, what beholds before her eyes is enough to completely knock her socks off.
"What the hell happened to you?!"
Chaeyoung can only shout her lungs out at the sight of none other than Lisa. It is raining like cats and dogs outside for sake and the neurosurgeon wears nothing but a light coat on top of her shirt inside. Lisa, with her breath shaking like a lone fighter of a leaf hanging onto a frail branch against the cold windy autumn, whispers a tiny greeting to the haematologist who can only look at her in disbelief, actually considering smacking the woman's head in the hope it will knock some sense into her head. If the cancer did not kill her then a hypothermia might as well do. The woman is as wet as a rat being dumped into a bucket of water, trembling as she rocks a pair of pale-almost-blue lips from being exposed to the cold air for far too long, bloodshot eyes out of exhaustion or dehydration, and two dark circles under her eyes like two sacks of bags just hanging there as if they were holding the weight of her life burden right now.
In short, Lisa looks like a wet dead corpse walking.
Chaeyoung rushes Lisa into her house—her floor be damned, as she wonders whatever it is the woman is thinking to be out and about at such an hour in the middle of the rain and ends up at her doorstep as if nothing is currently happening, as if there is no rain currently pouring outside; she does not even bring an umbrella. She has just been discharged only a few hours prior after face-planting herself onto the floor out of nowhere due to her condition and now it seems as if she is trying to catch a cold just to sprinkle a little bit more complications into the situation. Normally, anybody in her situation must take a rest, lots and lots of it, but instead, there Lisa is body shaking like one serving of margarita being shaken before it is served. Without thinking, Chaeyoung strips the woman out of her wet clothes and ushers her into the shower as she turns the heater on.
Lisa looks like she has lost her mind somewhere.
But Chaeyoung chooses to keep her question to herself first as she does the damage control step by step, first in line is waiting for Lisa to finish with her shower, then she proceeds to mop her wet floor after placing fresh clothes for Lisa by the bathroom door and goes back flopping her arse on her couch. It does not long before Lisa comes out of her room looking way better than she did, the hot shower does the trick.
"Have you eaten?"
Lisa shakes her head distractedly as she sits next to Chaeyoung; there is something, there must be something running in Lisa's mind—Chaeyoung believes, because that is exactly the look she always wears on her face every time she has something she ought to say but does not know where she should start from, and as always, Chaeyoung just let her be as she walks towards her pantry that is not far from where Lisa is to look for something for the neurosurgeon and waits for Lisa to finish contemplating and arranging the words in her head before she comes up with whatever it is she wants to say.
