At lunch
"Did you hear that Rebecca has a new boyfriend?" Laurel asked as we started eating our lunch.
"Another one!" I exclaimed, "How many is that now?" Laurel starts counting on her fingers, but she looks up at me.
"I lost track." She says, "I kind of feel bad for all of those boys she dumped, but they should have known what they were getting into." I nod my head in agreement as I took a bite out of my sandwich.
"Well there is that one kid who moved here and hadn't heard about Rebecca's other boyfriends." I say.
"Hey can I sit hear? Everywhere else is full." asked a timid voice. I turned to see who the voice belonged to and I saw Joshua. I then looked around and see there's other open areas. I realize no one was letting him sit with them.
I quickly swallow my food and say, "of course." while I felt my cheeks heating up. He set his stuff down a seat away from me. All three of us just sit there in a uncomfortable silence. I really want to say something but I don't want to embarrass myself.
Laurel was the one who broke the silence. "Your name is Joshua, right?" She asks. He nods his head. "I heard you get good grades."
"Yeah, I guess." He says bashfully.
"Well last year Raven was having a little trouble with her grades," I my cheeks start to heat up again. "So can you help my friend out by giving her tutoring lessons?"
"Sure. We can set up times tomorrow." He says still looking at his food.
"Sounds great!" Laurel says cheerfully. We spend the rest of lunch sitting in a more comfortable silence than before. The bell rings and we all grabbed our stuff. I waited for Joshua to be out of ear shot before I turn to Laurel.
"You didn't have to tell him that! Now he knows how dumb I am!" I say as I glared at her.
"I'm just trying to make my ship canon." She says casually.
"What! You ship us!?" I exclaimed.
"Yep." She says proudly. I sighed loudly as she entered her next class. I continued down the hall to the dreaded algebra class. I walked in and I took the same seat as the first day. Every one else filed in finishing with the teacher.
"I'm going to go around and show your grades from last years test. Who ever I'm not talking to can work on this paper" Mr. Jason says gesturing to the stack of papers on his desk. He starts with me. "Last year you just barely scraped a 3" (4=exceeding 3=expectation 2=below expectation 1=needs a lot of work) "I recommend a tutor to help you get better grades this year."
"I've already got a tutor, sir. I'm scheduling tutoring sessions with him tomorrow." I say.
"Okay keep up the good work." He says as he moves to the next person. I start the paper looking at each confusing question. After what felt like forever the bell finally rang. The rest of my classes were very similar to this one and the next thing I knew I was climbing on the bus.
As soon as I'm off the bus and in the house I go into my room to watch Fairy tail. Once I'm in my room I go straight to the night stand where my remote lays, but it's not there. I look to next to the TV, but it's not there either. I see a note taped to my TV though. It says:
I have your remote. I have hid it where you will not find it. You watch too much TV. Go outside and get some fresh air.

I sigh in defeat. I decided to take a walk down our street. I grab my phone and earbuds. I plug my earbuds in my phone as I look for a good playlist. I stick my earbuds in my ears and I shove my phone into my pocket. I slip on my black converse. I walk across the lawn to the sidewalk.
I've been walking for about 30 minutes when I stop. I saw something shiny in the bushes out of the corner of my eye. I turn and crouch down in front of the bush to investigate. I still can't see it so I reach in and grasp the object in my hand. As I pull it out it jingles like metal objects hitting against each other.
I look down at my hand and I see I'm holding a big ring of golden keys. I stand up and as I inspect them more I realize they are the twelve zodiac keys from Fairy tail. I look around to see if anyone is looking for them. I see no one so I stuff them into my pocket. I turn around and run the whole way home.
Once I arrive at the house again I stop to catch my breath. Then I walk inside while pulling the golden keys out of my pocket. I went into my room and plopped myself onto my bed. These keys gives me a weird feeling when ever I touch them. Maybe I'm just excited to have gotten the twelve zodiac keys.
I suddenly I remember mom wanted me outside. I quickly look at the time on my phone and see that mom is due home any minute. I grab my phone and new keys and I rush out the back door and into the small square of yard we own. I plop down into a lawn chair right as I hear mom's car pull into the driveway. In about a minute I see her come around the house. She smiles at me as she walks over.
"I see you got my note." Mom says.
"I did and guess what I found?" I say.
"What?" I hold up my keys.
"These."
"Are those your janitor keys?" she asks smirking.
"Ha ha." I fake laugh. "No, they are from Fairy tail."
"Oh." She says. "Wait out here and I'll bring out some fresh lemonade."
"Cool." After a few minutes she comes out the back door with two glasses of lemonade. She hands one to me. We sit the in silence for a bit, sipping our lemonade. Then mom broke the silence.
"Anything new." She asks.
"I got a tutor, so you don't have to find me one."
"Oh really? Who?"
"Joshua Jones." I say.
"Oh I've heard a lot of good things about that kid. When you planning tutoring sessions?"
"Tomorrow." I reply. She nods her head in approval. We finish our lemonade, collect our stuff, and walk back into the house.
