Arthur's POV

He looks so happy... I think to myself. He must assume that I was still sleeping because I felt him come and give me an extra blanket, which turned out to be his. I waited for a minute before I shifted so I could face the campsite that he had built. I see him bustling around the campground that he had put together yesterday afternoon. I see him putting the pot and pan to the side, most likely to clean them, and then I see him do something I have seen at least a hundred times before. I see his eyes flash the most brilliant gold color. Never changing always that pure gold. I have seen those eyes when he has saved my life countless times. I know he isn't the coward and useless servant that I am always yelling at him for, but I can't let on that I know, I am just waiting for him to tell me himself. Oh, I was mad when I saw it for the first time, I was seething, but I was grateful for what he had done; he saved my life.

~~~~~Flash Back~~~~~
 He thought I was unconscious when I fell off that ledge, but I felt what he had done and seen briefly that gold for the first time. He slowed my fall so I didn't die and he placed me on the ground. It was fast because I then heard the screams of the bandits who attacked us. I thought I heard spines and bones breaking. But I was saved, by a sorcerer... Who wasn't evil...
~~~~~Flash Back End~~~~~

But I am not mad anymore... If anything I am just hurt that he doesn't trust me enough to tell me his secret... I dont know what he must think of me. I want to believe that he knows I would never hurt him purposefully, I mean sure I hit him and throw things at him, but I never mean anything by it, it's just fun. I thought it was a game...

But those eyes, what did he just do? Oh, he lit the fire again, that's nice it was pretty chilly. He doesn't know I was watching. I see him start to turn towards me. I hear him walk over to me. Did he just touch my face? He is, I must be cold cause he only holds his warm hands on my cheek. I smile slightly with the warmth, which warrants a small giggle from my manservant. I realize I am cold.

I wish he could warm me up. As I think that I hear him mutter some words and I can just picture his eyes changing to that bright gold as warm washes over me. I smile again. But I lose his hands on my face, and even though he used his magic to warm me, I feel him put another something on me. As I hear his footsteps recede I open my eyes to watch him go, and I notice not only do I have an extra blanket, but he also gave me his jacket. He must be cold... but he has magic if he gets too cold I dont want him to think I was watching him, I'll get up in a little bit.

Merlin's POV

Well, I got up when I usually do. I look at Arthur, and I can see that he is cold. So I bring him my blanket since I won't be needing it now. So I get on with what I need to do, I gather the pot and pan and set it to the side so I can go wash them. I am gathering up the things we aren't using anymore, and I take them to the horses. I come back, and he still looks cold, so I use my magic to light the fire again, I steal a glance at Arthur to make sure that he hadn't noticed, I smile to myself to see that he is still sleeping soundly. I can't help myself, I feel this need to go make sure he is comfortable.

I know he is a heavy sleeper, so I gently held his face in my hands, and I am shocked at how cold he is. I mutter an ancient incantation that Gaius had taught me to make myself or another person warm, with the end of the spell I feel my eyes turn the warm gold color to know that the spell was enacted. I smile at myself when I notice that he gently smiles in my grasp. I chuckle to myself, and I rest his golden head down on his pack that I also put a silent enchantment on to make it more comfortable for him. Once, I am satisfied that he is comfy, I take my jacket and lay it on him, so I know that I can keep him warm. I don't really know why I feel this way, I just know that I had started to feel this tight grip in my chest when I had saved him from falling off that ledge a few months back. I think it was fear of losing him, but I dont think its fear now. I think to myself, "is it, LOVE?"

I shrug, and I head to gather the pot and pan that I used to make dinner last night, and I go down to the lake that we camped near. Why I am washing them out the water is surprisingly warm, this must be part of a hot spring. I look up at the sky and determine I have time for a swim myself, so I strip out of my clothes, and I wade out into the warm water.

I know Arthur is going to be asleep for a while, So I make little figures in the water, with small flashes of gold I make a mini-me and a mini Arthur. I see that in these little figures as they run around me that they are playing out a memory from when I had only just met Arthur. It looks like the fight that we had, I can see the little water Arthur chasing me down with a mace and I see me moving little water boxes in his way. I smile at the memory as I glance over my should to see the scar that I got from when he managed to get me. My first scar I got for that dollop-head.

My smile fades a little as I look from scar to scar on my chest and stomach, I know that I got these protecting him and I know I am happy to keep doing that, but I wish my magic could help lessen the pain I feel when I remember all the torture and all the pain I had to go through for him. I know we are friends but I wish he could know me for me. But he can never know how I do it.
