The afternoon went by fairly quick but you know what they say; time flies when you're having fun. After we're done with going on the rides, the girls decide we should play a couple games before heading to the beach
"Play me and Gabby in the horse racing game please!" Riley begs
"Yeah, it's no fun with just two people" Gabby adds in and I chuckle before accepting their pleads
I hand the game operator a $20 bill to pay for myself, Riley and Gabby and he hands me back a $5 bill. I take a seat on the stool and put my hands on the water hose, preparing myself for the game to begin. The whole point of the game is to aim a stream of water coming from the water hose into a small hole a fair distance away in order for your horse to move across the track. Whoever's horse makes it across the track first, wins
"I'd like to join" I hear a voice say from beside me and I roll my eyes, knowing that voice belongs to the most irritating man on this planet that is Damon. He hands the operator his money and sits on a stool right next to me
"Ready to lose" he says smugly which causes me to laugh out loud in disbelief
"You're so full of yourself" I say keeping my eyes straight ahead knowing the game is going to start any moment
The bell sounds off indicating the game has started and the water starts spraying out of the hose. I concentrate on aiming the stream of water into the hole and from the corner of my eye, I can see Damon concentrating just as hard. I focus on keeping my aim exactly where it is and a few seconds later, the bell sounds off again indicating someone has won
"Congratulations sir, which prize would you like?" the guy running the game says directly to Damon. I huff and get off my stool, stomping off. I don't even want to hear his smart mouth about winning
Riley and Gabby wait behind for Damon and I rejoin the group who's over at a ring toss game. Mason ends up winning but let's April choose a prize for herself. So cute. The action makes me smile but the moment is ruined all too soon when I hear someone clearing their throat from behind me
"Did you come over here to gloat Damon" I say as I'm turning around to face him but my eyes automatically land on the stuffed animal he's holding. It's Snoopy from Charlie Brown
"For you, snoopy" he says holding it out towards me and I take it in my hands
"You're never going to let me live that down, are you?" I mumble but I can't help the smile that starts forming on my face
"Never" he says and I can see the corners of his mouth starting to turn up, revealing a genuine smile
"Are we ready to go to the beach now, I'm so over losing all my money to these stupid games" Jess says which causes all of us to laugh
"Oh Jessica, don't blame the games, blame your sucky skills" Brad says and Jessica shoots him the middle finger with a fake smile plastered on her face
"Bite me" she says
"Gladly" Brad quips back
"Okay there's time for you guys to do that later in private, let's go to the beach now" Katelyn interrupts and I'm thankful because I had no idea where that was going. The last thing I needed was Riley going home and thinking "bite me" is a good comeback to use
"Why didn't you win me a prize" I hear the leach whine to Damon whose walking behind all of us
"Chelsea, I really don't know what you thought this was but it was a one time thing. There's nothing between us and there never will be" Damon snaps at her and I inwardly cringe a little bit. That was kind of harsh. I try my best not to continue eavesdropping but I can't help myself. It's not like they were necessarily speaking quietly
