After everything that happened last night, I was embarrassed to be standing at the door step of the place where I'd be forever reminded about how I lost my best friend. I close my eyes and let a deep breath out, building up the courage to knock. Before my mind has a chance to register what I'm doing, my body takes control and I find myself knocking. The door swings open a couple seconds later to reveal a surprised looking Jessica

"Jess I—" I begin but I'm quickly cut off by her throwing herself at me and wrapping her arms around my shoulders, squeezing the life out of me. It takes me a few seconds to recover before I wrap my arms around her as well and feel myself starting to tear up

"Don't you cry" Jess murmurs against my shoulder and I simply nod and sniffle slightly

A minute goes by before we finally pull away from each other and she lets me into the house

"Who's here so early?" Brad says rounding the corner and instantly perks up when he sees me standing in the kitchen but then his smile quickly fades "How are you?" he asks genuinely

"I'm doing the best I can" I tell him with all honesty which earns me a smile

"Damon's in his room, I'm pretty sure I heard his voice when I passed by" Brad says throwing me off guard "That is why you're here, isn't it?" he adds with a slight smirk. Jessica chuckles lightly from
beside me and I'm left standing there feeling heat making its way to my cheeks

"Leave the girl alone Brad, let's go" Jess says, making me feel like she's my mother coming to my aid against my obnoxious older brother

I make my way up the stairs, recalling in my mind the way to Damon's room. Just before I'm about to knock, the sound of a girls laugh coming from behind Damon's door makes me freeze. The muffled noise causes my stomach to knot and I suddenly wish I never came here. I turn and quickly make my way back to the stairs before I throw up all over the floor, I need air. A door opens but I dare not look back to see if it's Damon's

"Snoopy?" Damon's deep voice says, almost in disbelief. I stop on the stairs, squeezing my eyes shut. I slowly turn around to face him and try my best to force a smile at him and the girl who's standing beside him. I recognize her as the girl who was attached to his hip last night at the party

"Hi" I manage to squeak out, avoiding his intense stare

"Sadie, you can see yourself out" Damon says, not moving his eyes off me. The girl standing next to him scoffs loudly and hurt flashes in her eyes

"It's Sophie" she mutters at him before brushing past me on the stairs and slamming the door on her way out

"Let's go in my room" Damon says before turning around and heading back through the door. I follow him without a single word and close the door behind me when I enter. Damon's sitting on his bed and I continue standing near the door awkwardly

"Aren't you going to come sit down?" He asks, raising an eyebrow

"There's no way I'm sitting on that bed after what you just did last night and probably even this morning" I say while twisting my face into disgust

Damon bursts out laughing and I could swear there's nobody else in the world that aggravates me more yet makes me feel so warm inside every time I hear that damn laugh

"Whats so funny?" I question while crossing my arms

"We didn't do anything, she was just too drunk to go home last night so I did the right thing and let her stay here. I slept over there" Damon tells me while pointing at the deflated blow up mattress shoved into the corner of the room. I felt stupid but also relieved in some sort of way
