We were in Louis' dining room, we didn't eat the dinner we were given.

"Lynessa, what was it like living as a peasant girl in the ages of knights and swords?" Lestat asked.

"Not as majestic as you might picture it. The knights are not in shining armor as the female book readers might depict them. Knights of the Round Table my arse."

A slave girl walked in.

"Are you not hungry sir?" She asked Louis.

"He can eat a whole colony."

Lestat started laughing.

"I'll finish it in bed, now leave us."

She nodded and walked away.

I saw a rat, I snatched it and fed on it for a brief minute. Lestat motioned me to give him the rat. I did so, he squirted it in a wine glass and gave it to Louis.

"Try it."

He took a sip.

"Feeding on rats?"

"I don't call it feeding, I call it surviving. Handy when you're stuck for a month on a ship at sea."

"Amen to that brother," I said.

Lestat chuckled.

We went to this party, we were walking around.

"Vampires have this beautiful charm that possibly no other man would behold. You see the old woman, Widow St. Clair, she hired that gorgeous young fob to murder her husband."

"How do you know that?" Louis asked.

"Read her thoughts."

Louis was trying.

"Read her thoughts," Lestat said again.

"I can't."

"I can, she blamed a slave for his murder. The man with her just wants her for her riches."

'Wow, what else can you do, Lynessa?"

"Telekinesis, strength of a circus person, more tolerant to fire since I am an older vampire."

We were walking outside with the widow and her man. Lestat and I was with the man, Louis was with the old woman.

"Where are we going?" He asked.

Lestat started to caress his cheek.

"Nowhere."

He was about to feed that man.

"Lynessa, keep an eye on Louis while I have a little chat with the young man in private."

I nodded and walked away, I kept a good distance from Louis.

"Flattering young man, but I'm old enough to be your grandmother."

He starts kissing her neck. Her poodles started growling at him, then he snatched one of them and fed on it. The old lady started to scream and cry.

"My poor babies!"

Louis started to shush her until Lestat came from behind us and twisted her neck.

"Damn Louis! Whining coward of a vampire that prowls the night killing rat and poodles, you could've finished us both!"

"You've condemned me to hell!"

"I don't know any hell."

Louis started to scream and charge at Lestat. They were backed to a tree. Lestat was laughing.

"Atta boy Louis! Let it out! This...that's why I chose you."

They were backed to another tree. Lestat laughed again.

"Go ahead and let it all out."

I stared at the dead poodles.

"Poor dogs," I said sadly.

"What Lyn, do you have a problem with feeding on domestic pets?" Lestat asked.

"I've always like dogs, I feel sorry for these poor poodles."

Lestat rolled his eyes and walked to me.

"You're a thousand years old, no vampire shows sympathy for their victims."

"I'm my own woman and vampire, Lestat."

He sighed.

"It'll be sunrise in a few hours, let's go."

We left.
