Chapter 12

The smoke cleared up, showing a silhouette of two overly familiar figures. His toothy grin was the first thing I saw as everything cleared up.

"Yo, Luce."

I froze on my spot, my eyes widening in disbelief while at the same time happiness exploded inside of me. The blue exceed with him waved its paw, and before I knew it, my feet moved on their own and ran towards the two.

I practically threw myself over Natsu, embracing him tightly that we fell to the ground. His laughter was all I heard as tears of joy streamed down from my eyes. "Natsu!"

"Missed me?" He grinned widely, pushing me gently as he sat us up. "Mannnn, how long has it been? You sure have changed!"

"Lushyyy~!" Happy flew towards me, tears in his eyes as his little arms embraced me. "I missed you so much, Lushee~"

I giggled, once again embracing the two. "I missed you guys too."

"AHHH! SO IT WAS YOU!!?" Meredy's familiar voice screamed that earned my attention. Turning to her, I saw her glare at Natsu, pointing on something at the side which was a couple of baskets. "You were the one who stole our food!"

"I'd have given you a beating but I'm feeling nice today. But you have to give back what you stole!" Meredy huffed before flashing her signature smile.

"Natsu, what brings you here?" Jellal then questioned as I stood up, dusting my clothes in the process.

"I was just hunting this beast!"

They obviously didn't believe him. They were giving him hard stares, and the atmosphere was somewhat getting heavy that I had the need to step in.

"N-Now, now, this doesn't happen a lot so why won't we all get along?" I forced a smile that turned out awkward, sighing in relief when they agreed in their own ways.

My eyes met Cobra's, he looked like he wanted to say something but chose not to. He was looking at Natsu, or more like glaring. I know that look. Oh goodness, he's jealous!

But he didn't do anything. It was like he was having an internal debate, like he was trying to understand the situation. Either way, I'm glad he respects my feelings and relationship with my best friend.

"First was Kinana, and now Natsu. Who's gonna come next?" Racer asked that as a joke, but I can't help but think there was deeper meaning to it.

"Who knows? Maybe the whole guild!" Natsu replied playfully, pushing himself up before swinging his arm around my shoulders. "Well, I'm borrowing my bestfriend for a while!"

Before I could react, he already scooped me up and ran away at full speed. I heard the others calling out to us before we got too far.

"Where are we going, Natsu?"

He was acting strange, I'll admit. Maybe it was just changes over the years, but I can't help but notice he was somehow being odd.

But it was him, for sure. And because it was Natsu, I decided to trust him.

Finally letting me down, he guided as we walked through the exit part of the forest. I embraced Happy as we walked, missing the warmth of the familiar exceed.

"Don't you miss doing missions with me and Happy?"

I answered without hesitation. "Of course!" The high pitch of my voice indicating the happiness I felt.

"That's what we're gonna do now!"

I know it was pretty rude for me to leave the others without saying anything, but in my defense I was kidnapped by this salmon-haired idiot. He wants to do a mission with me, and I have no reason to decline that. I mean, there's no telling if I would have the chance to do this again.
