Body Double
"What about Jason? did he even care about Polly?"
. . .
Being stuck at school. In the middle of the night. During a break in is apparently the best time and place to have your dirty laundry aired. But sadly that was Ryan's case. The group surrounded Ethel holding the playbook when Kevin called to their attention that Ryan's name along with Cheryl's was inside. Veronica plucked the book from the other girl's hands "Cheryl Blossom, Chelsea Brooks and Dokata Collins? these all have your name linked to them, Ryan," she pointed out drawing her finger along the red ink line under his name.
"We did not." Cheryl suddenly snapped her eyes locking onto Ryan. A scowl forming on her scarlet lips "why would you tell anyone that we slept together you sick pyscho?!" she spat her venom while taking a small inching step towards him.
He stood his ground but couldn't help but deflect her question "I don't think that's important right now-"
"To add to your ego? because no way in hell that someone would actually believe some south side trash like you are would even have a chance with me," she bombarded him with accusing questions. The torch that she held tight pressed against his chest.
His eyes shift from the plastic back up to her features mainly lingering on her lips. Fighting back a scoff he snatched the torch "so you can kiss me but sleeping with me is so improbable?" he shot back.
A thick silence filled the air between them both as they stared down one another. Ryan almost forgot about the others around him while his mind was swirling. The hand at his side slowly formed a fist that shook with anger. It wasn't until Kevin gently spoke up did he tear his gaze away from her.
"As much as I am enjoying these plot twists I think we have more important things at hands."
Betty, on the other hand, was too busy fuming from the news that Jason had used Polly for a simple game. "This is what guys like Jason and Chuck think about women. We're objects from them to abuse and when they are done with us they shame us into silence" she ranted. Every inch of her body seemed to shake with rage "they have zero remorse for the lives they destroy."
Ryan stood silent though he did agree with most her points he could physically feel the edge to her words. He knew even though she never said his name it was still directed towards him in one way or another.
"Maybe I don't know Jason," Cheryl whispered. It seemed that Betty's words had hit a nerve which calmed and hurt her at the same time. Moving away from Ryan she edged closer to the blonde with the look of utter defeat.
Veronica meanwhile took out her phone snapping a picture of the book "I'll take a picture. We'll show it to Weatherbee." Turning to face the other two girls she gives them a small smile "It will be the perfect cover for your expose."
Ryan had almost forgotten that was the whole point of the thing. In his mind, it was a simple act of revenge even if it meant throwing himself under the bus. If taking down Chuck and the evil essences that Jason's football team had lingered over the school for far too long. Meant he had to go down as well so be it.
"Yea but no these girls deserve justice don't you think Cheryl?" Betty looked towards the redhead looking for back up.
Yet she remained silent.
"You want vengeance? You wanna go full dark no stars, Veronica? I'm with you," she stepped closer to the pair of girls her eyes narrowing slightly.
