You stared blankly at your phone screen, letting the brightness wash away into your eyes and starting to bring out the weakness in you.
You wanted to forget last night, you wanted to forget everything, including him.
You turned off your phone screen and threw it on your bed, trying to think of something other than him.
"Because I like you."
"I'm just holding hands with the person I like, is that so wrong?"
You thought back to the way he took care of you romantically and as your best friend even. You felt tears on the edge of the corner of your eyes as you thought about him more. The way he stroked his fingers your hair and made you give him his most genuine smiles even if it was something so little, like holding hands.
You started to smile a little at those sweet moments you shared, and even when you two were each other's worst enemies. Those were the best times, and even though you couldn't look away from those beautiful chocolate brown eyes, you knew you had to move on.
He's a temptation, and that's nothing more.
You heard the door open and your most precious roommate walked in, setting her shopping bags on her bed before turning to you. "Did you happen to read the school page already?"
You nodded over her way and when she looked away, you quickly swiped and flicked away the tears off of your face, earning the most comforting smile from Joy.
"Move your legs, you lazy bum." She let out a chuckle and you moved those sprawled legs off the couch and placed them flat down on the floor.
She flopped down beside you and stared at you for a second before speaking up, "Tell me, is he worth the trouble for you?"
You looked at her dark blue eyes, trying to understand her question and before you could respond, she crossed her legs and scooted closer to you.
"He's not worth the trouble, so he's definitely not worth the salted tears coming from your eyes, Y/N, and you're so much more stronger than him, right?" She nudged you like she knew what she was talking about and she really did know what she was talking about.
"How do you handle it?" You asked, studying her face. She frowned and looked down at her lap. She let a wry smile tug on her lips.
"I liked this boy before, but have we all liked someone, right? I mean, I don't know, he was really different from all of the other guys trying to swoon me with flowers and chocolate," She chuckled and placed her head in her hand, turning her smile into a quick frown. "He treated me with so much respect, so much love and care. I truly felt like a queen. A year later after we've gotten closer, his family rejected mine... because we, of course, had a secretive relationship. Our parents wouldn't allow us to be together, ever. So, after the secret got out, his family moved to America," Joy said, with a shaky voice.
"I'm really sorry... Joy." You reaches up and wrapped your arms around her upper torso, pulling her into a tight hug. She just laughed and shook it off, "This is about you, silly."
She suddenly pulled away and you looked at her, wondering what was wrong.
"Let's confront that Jungkook guy."
"C-Confront? No, no, no, I think I've done enough. Did you see the videos other students have posted?" You suddenly stood up from the couch and flopped down on your bed, watching as Joy turned her back to lean against the couch.
"That's because you were drunk!" She exclaimed.
"And? I still feel emotions when I'm not sober."
"Just do it, make this right. Clear up the mess between you two and start over."
"Why would I want to start over with someone who messed with my heart? I'd only be letting him in again."
[Afternoon]
Joy forcefully pushed you out of the dorm, telling you to do something to take your mind off of things and you promised yourself that you'd scold that girl once you walked her way again!
But for now, you were sipping on your water, taking a stroll around the campus. You kicked rocks around here and then, thinking about your family and how they were doing. Especially your dad, with some other woman.
"Look, if it isn't Y/N." A familiar, raspy, deep voice said.
You looked up from your rock kicking and saw Kim Taehyung giving you his box smile.
Suddenly your cheeks were flushed.
"Aw, were you thinking about me this entire time?" He walked by your side and you followed his pace.
"Yeah, I actually was. Kicking rocks actually made me feel better after looking at a face like yours in my mind," You said sarcastically, earning a soft push from Taehyung.
"You know I'm good looking, baby boo." The name made your stomach flip over.
"Stop, you obnoxious weirdo!" You pushed him into a group of girls as they sneered at the boy who just interrupted their conversation.
"Sorry, ladies— Ah? The movie was that good? I have to go see that tomorrow morning!" With that, he walked over to you and wrapped his arm around your shoulder. "Planning on talking to Jungkook?"
"No, I'd actually like to stay clear of him." You ran a hand through your messy hair, watching as Taehyung lifted his finger up, pointing at something. You looked up and frowned, looking at the human in front of you and Taehyung.
"He's right over there."
