Anyone have a guess as to how long this will be? I certainly don't.

I was hoping I'd finish an update before work and I did! Look at me go!

Junmyeon's POV

...

"Can I borrow it tonight? Please mom?" I begged her. It was a rarity for her to be home, but since she was, I seized the chance to ask something I'd wanted to since last week. After months of prep, I finally got my driver's license, the first of my friend group to do so even though both Baekhyun and Kyungsoo turned eighteen first. "I'll... I'll fill the tank again I promise."

"Are you sure?" she asked. "Christmas is only a few days away. Didn't you say you needed the extra money for something else?" I sighed in defeat. Mrs. Choi said she'd only hold the locket until the end of the week. I had just enough to finish paying it off and get the photos developed. "Tell you what," mom said, handing me her card. "If you go to the store and pick up a few things for me, I'll let you drive your friends around awhile."

"Really?" I asked, barely contained excitement dripping off every word. I took her card and slid it into my sweater pocket.

"Really," she agreed. "But it is still a school night so I don't want you out too late. You'll have plenty of time for that at the end of the week." I nodded furiously, wrapping my arms around her in a hug.

"Thank you!" I exclaimed. I grabbed my cap off the hall table on the way out as well as the keys, sliding behind the wheel and running my hands over it. The only car I'd ever driven was the instructor's car. And never by myself before. I was nervous, but excited all the same. I crept out of the driveway and drove the few odd blocks to Baekhyun's house, parking out front and sending him a quick message. Not too long after he came spilling out of the house, racing up the short sidewalk.

"No way!" he cried when he slid into the passenger seat. "Your mom actually let you drive it?"

"Yep!" I boasted. "Where's Sehun? Doesn't he want to come with us?" Baekhyun sported a frown at that, slightly shaking his head.

"He was crying," he admitted softly. "His dad cancelled Christmas with him in favor of going to Japan. He was devastated when he got that text." I felt my blood boiling to dangerous levels. Was it possible to want to beat a man I'd hardly ever met? Sehun was looking forward to seeing his dad for Christmas. But the man decided he'd rather not be a father this holiday season. "Dad and mom are trying to do their best to console him, but I don't think it helps," Baekhyun continued with a sigh. "He loves my dad, but I know this whole thing has been tough on him. He knew his dad before his mom married mine; I never knew who my mother was."

"Yeah," I answered softly, glancing at their house one last time before pulling away and driving a few more blocks to Kyungsoo's house. The car was silent for a second as I let that all digest. Over break we had to make it up to Hunnie somehow. I stopped at Kyungsoo's and was shocked to see him standing at the end of the driveway, watching us approach.

"It is not a myth," he said as he climbed into the back seat. Baekhyun snorted, putting his head down to keep from laughing. "I thought Baek was kidding when he said you had the car. How'd you manage this? Did you make the gods a sacrifice or something?" This time Baekhyun roared with laughter, and after a beat Kyungsoo and I joined in.

"No, I just turned into errand boy," I replied. "I have to go to the store for mom before I go home. Though we can't be out long. She wants me home at a decent time."

"Oh please," Baekhyun said with a roll of his eyes. "It's your final year of school and she hasn't loosened up in the slightest." I gripped the steering wheel tight to keep from saying something. Kyungsoo leaned forward and cuffed Baekhyun over the head.
