56 articles of clothing, that's how many Lillian and I went through. 9 is how many I agreed on, and 12 that Lillian choose without my agreement. We were making a list of potentials, one that we would compare and eliminate items from in the selection process. Tina was on her stomach next to the bed, drawing on papers that according to her 'Lily' gave to her, a nickname that Tina decided to give her.
Lillian got up from the bed and walked to her vanity, rummaging through the drawers. She then walked over to me with a tinny makeup bag "Can I teach you something?" she asked.
"Ughh sure" I told her.
She smiled as she reached out to my hair "I know that you don't like to put effort into looking good, so I want to teach you a couple of tricks that would help you look effortlessly good" she said, then tugged my hair open. She ruffled through my open hair and styles it so that it fell around my shoulder, then gave me a right-side parting "Stop putting your hair up in a bun all the time, you look good and relaxed when your hair is down. And if your hair is a mess, just braid it to the side; it will give you a more girl next door look"
She then reached into her bag. I didn't argue when she applied blush to my cheeks and nose, brushed and colored my messy eyebrows, covered my lashed in a light coat of mascara, a tad on highlight on my nose and cheekbone, and applied a clear lip gloss on my lips. She then helped me into her silver heart shaped hoops.
"I know that you're not really into make up and all, but sometimes it since to use them to highlight and bring more attention to your best and natural features" she said.
When she turned me to the mirror, she was right. I looked like myself, but somehow looked slightly different and like I spent more time getting ready. The blush brought color to my face and made me look somehow more innocent, lip gloss highlight the dark pink color of my lips, eyebrows looked neater and fullers, mascara made my brown eyes look more defined and lashes thicker, and highlight made my skin look more radiant and brighter. I liked it.
"I love it" It told her then frowned "But now I have to take the time to remove it. Can you do that for me as well?"
"Hey" I heard Michel call "Are you ready to go?"
I turned to him confused "Excuse me?"
He smiled "Are you ready to go?" he repeated as he shoved his hands into his jeans "We're going out. Lillian is baby sitting Tina while we go out. Let's go"
Before I could argue, Michel left the room, causing me to follow him confused "What the fuck are you talking about?"
"I'm taking you on the date I told you about yesterday" he said as he stopped at the bottom of the stairs "They're playing Twister in the drive-in theater"
"Michel, I'm noting going out on a date with you" I told him.
His grin grew bigger "Yes, you are, Jade" he said.
I folded my arms over my chest at the top of the stairs and shook my head.
He sighed "Okay, fine. How about this" he said "If you don't like it, you will consider it as two friends hanging out. If you do like it, like I know you would, we will agree on it being a date. Now get your things, I will be waiting in the car. Oh, and I already brought snakes and something to drink"
He was out of the door before I could argue again, so I went back to the girls. I debated to ignore him and leave him in the car waiting, but then decided that I shouldn't be an asshole and just go with him and watch one of my favorite movies with him on the big screen. I mean what's the worst thing that could happen? We were in public with people all around us, as well as the drive-in security supervision.
