The Fated

Saphria Mieran watched the chaos unfold in her surroundings, her golden eyes alight with hatred and a foreboding feeling, one that she dreaded to feel. She hated the fact that it actually came faster than she thought it was going to.

She may have miscalculated it. Or maybe she thought them too stupid to devise such an underhanded trick as a sneak attack. Or maybe she had been too vain.

No. It's because you were too incompetent.

Saphria's eyes lowered, her expression blank. She doesn't know how to deal with the demon residing in her heart, the one who was "called" the one who must fulfill a purpose that she didn't want, one she didn't care about.

Yes, she feared the gods. Not because they were powerful, but because in their arrival comes great responsibility for her. Their entire existence was the bane of hers.

Yet, someone had to come and make her realize what it meant to rule, what it meant to feel loved and accepted, one that treated her as a friend.

A smile broke out of her lips as another gigantic explosion created a black cloud of smoke from the distance.

That was her queue.

Itinaas niya ang kaniyang kamay at ang pulu-pulutong na mga gwardyang nasa labas ng paaralan ay sabay-sabay na humugot ng kaniya-kaniya nitong mga sandata. These soldiers were her personal guards, her own masterpieces.

The unseen enemies approached, and with another wave of a hand, those guards doubled and tripled in numbers, creating a formation at the entrance of the school, guarding against the approaching enemies.

For a moment, everything was at a standstill. Saphria eyes the clock in the distance, its hands resembling keys for opening an ancient chest. It shimmered under the golden glow of the setting sun and mirrored the color of smoke and fire burning the city from afar.

A woman in black appeared at her side, kneeling on one knee.

"I've scouted the area and saw no one. Just explosions. It must have been prepared beforehand, no one expected it," she reported.

Saphria can only shake her head. "The students?"

"All evacuated. There were a few who suffered major injuries and was sent directly to the clinic. We didn't bother bringing them to a hospital or–"

"That's good," she cut her off. "The people outside need to be evacuated too. Gather everyone and spread out. Save as many as you can."

The woman lowered her head. "Understood, master."

Saphria eyes her and smirks. "Melandre, you've been a really good girl. Your reward will be granted once everything has been concluded. Now leave," she said, her words void of any emotion although it was spoken in a soft tone.

Melandre lowered her head even more and then vanished.

Saphria looked at the clock again, watching the long finger tick by, moving at an arduous pace.
