The Trick

The memory clenched her heart and made her sad. Athena and Hades do seem to be very close, and it seems that Hades favors her a lot, and so was Athena.

She wanted to help them.

That smile... was beautiful beyond compare. So Hades was also capable of that. The gods has been ruined beyond recognition, and it's not something a mortal like her can fix.

It wasn't a tremor triggered by an earthquake. It was probably an explosion. And it sure wasn't small. The Underworld surely did not originate the tremor though she can see the slight vibrations made by the stony ornate walls surrounding the throne room.

"What was that?"

Hades' forehead creased even more.

"Probably Poseidon's."

"Why would he trigger an earthquake here? Did he know that you were here?" Celeste asked, furrowing her brows.

"It wasn't directed here," Hades answered.

The ground grumbled again in a thunderous boom. The sound was undeniably stronger here since this place is enclosed and is located delicately underground.

"Above. I think the Titans have come."

The Titans? "What?!"

A strong feeling of fear burned inside her like wildfire. My family.

Celeste's never been this frantic before. In situations like this, she has always calm.

But today's situation feels so different. As if... she was lured here to keep her out of danger. It has been a trick. And she feels something deep within her gut, churning in her insides like a snake coiling around its prey.

She had no time to ponder over it, lalo pa't ang utak niya'y wala nang ibang laman kundi ang sitwasyon ng pamilya niya.

Think! There was a door! The gap between the boulders...

She wanted to slip away fast but then heard Hades speak.

"You can't go."

Celeste turned, her eyes full of hatred. "My family is in danger. You have to let me go," she said, her lips pursed tightly, tone seething with rage.

Hades watched the calm girl he was talking to earlier morph into this murderous little monster, and he can only shake his head.

"You cannot go unless I allow it. Even if you search for the passage for the whole day, you cannot find it," Hades said, his tone reverting to its soulless state as if that man who coaxed her with stories was nothing but a facade.

Celeste felt great despair. This is death in form, there's no way she'll win against him. But that doesn't mean she'll admit defeat without a fight.
