Uhhhh so our power went out and I decided that I basically wanted to update now because why not? Also, pro tip: get a portable charger if you can and keep it ready in case of power outages. I was lucky enough to have charged mine up earlier today so my phone won't be dying anytime soon. Anywayyy new chapter!
Alexandra
Everything was dark. Alexandra couldn't tell what was going on, but she knew she was asleep because being awake felt much different than this. The last thing she remembered was Dr. Ford helping her climb back into bed and she drifted off to sleep. But that had been peaceful sleep. This wasn't peaceful.
She felt like she was drowning. It reminded her of the river Dr. Octavius had thrown her in last year. She felt the same kind of cold against her skin, the thousands of knives that cut through her and knocked the air out of her lungs. She felt the same dizziness that the swirling water had given her. She felt her lungs screaming for air in the same way that they had when she had been trapped under the water. She felt herself being pulled further and further away from the surface.
And then she felt... nothing.
All of the hurt, all of those familiar feelings were suddenly gone. Alexandra felt at peace again. She allowed herself to rest.
It only felt like moments later when she heard the voices. They were familiar, but she couldn't quite place them. One she knew well, a man's voice. Another she had known her whole life, her best friend... the boy she was falling in love with. Peter.
"...llie! Come on, please wake up..."
Wake up? Oh yeah, she was asleep. That made a lot of sense. But she didn't really feel like waking up at the moment. The darkness wasn't scary anymore, it was mostly a comfort. She was safe her, she felt. Nothing could get to her here.
But those voices wouldn't be quiet.
"Sweetheart, please... come back to us." Dad? He was worried about her. She must have been asleep for a while, then. But it couldn't have been that bad, right? She was only resting.
"She'll be okay, she just needs to rest." This was a woman's voice this time. Alexandra knew the voice, but couldn't quite place it.
Rest did sound nice. So she tuned the voices out and she lost herself in that darkness again.
🕷🕷🕷
The ringing noise grew loud. It was annoying Alexandra. The darkness was no longer comfortable, and she felt ready to go. The ringing got louder and louder and louder...
Her eyes shot open. The first thing she noticed was the lights. They were SO bright. Alexandra squinted her eyes and looked around. She was back at Stark Industries, and in that same damn hospital bed that she had been stuck in for the past couple of days. She groaned and stretched her legs, itching to get up and move.
"Alex!" She turned her head and saw her father drop his mug of coffee. It shattered on the ground and its contents spilled all over the floor. She scrunched her nose up and looked at her father, who by now was at her bedside, cupping her face in his hands. "Oh thank god, you're awake!" He kisses her forehead and held her in his arms for a moment, as if he was afraid that if he let go she would be gone again.
"Aren't you going to clean that up?" Alexandra asked, gesturing to the shattered mug and spilled coffee.
Her father looked at her with a confused look and then shook his head fondly. "Screw the coffee, Alex. You're here. I thought..." Colin trailed off, and Alexandra tilted her head. "But that doesn't matter now because you're safe."
