"I can't take to anymore! Everywhere we go there's always animal and people attacks!" My mom says. She looking for an apartment to rent while I try to persuade her not to. "Mom, I have to tell you something. You may not believe it at first, but once I show you, you probably won't want me anymore." Mom sits down and runs her fingers through her short sad nappy hair. "Don't tell me you're pregnant," she sighs. I chuckle and say no. "This may be worse. Look, for the past three years we've been moving a lot because of the animal attacks. The attacks have been coming from me. Mom, I'm a wolf."
Mom sits there for a second and giggles. "Sweetie, what do you want from me?" She says. I sigh, close my eyes, turn around, and make my eyes turn hazel. I turn back around and open my eyes. "Honey, contacts are for people who need glasses, not you," Mom scolds. I show my fangs and she says, "Halloween isn't until next month." I growl loudly and yell, "That's it! I'm tired of you acting like a dumb blonde, mom! I'm a WOLF! Okay? If you don't believe me, watch this." I transform into a wolf and Mom gasps loudly and almost faints. "What--how in the--Jana! I don't even know what to say!" I whimper and try to rub my head against her leg, but she backs away and grabs a butcher knife from the counter.
"I'll do it. I'll kill you! Turn back to yourself, Jana. Please!" My mom begs. I get up from all four legs and grab my Snuggy. "What are you, some kind of mons--" "Don't even think about saying that, mom. Don't ever call me a freak or a monster at all!" I warn. I feel my eyes flash hazel and I close them and think about calm thoughts. "So you're telling me that my daughter is a wolf," my Mom says to herself. I nod sharply. I turn back into a wolf and howl for Bradley to come in. Bradley walks up the steps of the front porch and licks my face. He pants for a few minutes, but eventually he stops panting and drooling on the floor.
"Who is that? Some other mons--wolf, too?" My mom asks with fear in her voice. Bradley turns around and changes back into a human. "Who is this man?" Mom says. "Okay, mom. This is Bradley. We've been....dating for some time and he's a wolf too. Long story short: he was a jerk, I bit him, and now I'm dating him. Okay?" I explain. Mom shakes her head and asks, "Well, now what? What do you expect me to do, huh? Do you want me to just except the fact that you're a wolf?!" I sigh, and let Bradley sit down first so I can sit on his lap. "Ms. Cook, you don't understand how drastic of a change this has been for me. I have to been through hard times, but never ones like these. I really love your daughter. I hope you'll accept that," Bradley says.
"It's not that. It's that you both are werewolves! In my house! And I'm taking it awfully good for you all to be able to turn into a wild animal!" Mom screams. Bradley growls and warns, "Don't talk to her that way."
"She's my daughter; I can talk to her any way I want!"
"Well that's not a good excuse at all!"
"Get out."
"What?" Bradley says, shocked. "Get out of my house. I never want to see you two monster-freaks AGAIN!" Mom retorts. I lunge for her throat but Bradley holds me back. "What....are....you doing? She doesn't want me anymore so I don't care. I shouldn't care!" I tell Bradley. "She's still your mother. You shouldn't hurt her," he says. "She hurt ME!" I snap, my eyes flashing back and forth. "Look, I don't give a crap about her feelings anymore! She. Hates. Me. Now. Why should I care about her?"
"BECAUSE SHE'S YOUR MOTHER!" The whole room grows quiet as Bradley begins to shake slightly. "Bradley, Bradley don't start. You're going to go crazy if you don't stop shaking!" I scold, but it doesn't work. Bradley shakes even more and I move him into my room. "Bradley calm down. Please don't transform. Not right now." Bradley begins to stop shaking, and he slowly turns around to face me. His eyes are still yellow from shaking, and he closes them to try and change them back, but they're still yellow with anger. "Why would you say such a thing like that to your mother? I know you all have a different relationship than with my mother, but still," he yells.
I turn around and say, "You don't run my life. Look, my mother never loved me. You're the first REAL person to care about me! But right now, you're starting to act like her." "Jana I--" "Save it, Bradley. I'm not upset. I just need to transform and let all this go. If you'll excuse me, I'll be in the backyard," I say, turn around, and jump out of the open window as a wolf.
