Goodbye

Bradley and I are sitting in his room, my things thrown all over the place. I've been living with him for a few months now. "Listen, my mom really doesn't want you here. She says she thinks you're a...you know, 'monster' or whatever," he says, then punches the wall with annoyance. The wall cracks, and I flinch when some of the wood flies out. "It's okay, Bradley. It's ok," I say, rubbing his hair. He kisses me on my forehead and takes my hand. He then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a necklace that says "Forever" and a crescent moon beside it.

"What's this for?" I ask, trying to hold back my tears. "It's for you. It's for being with me. It's for making me a wolf, something I really love," Bradley responds. I take the necklace and put it on by myself. "Wow, Bradley. This is really nice of you. But seriously, why are you giving me this as if you were--" "I'm leaving," Bradley says before I can get the words out of my mouth.

"What? I can come with you, wherever you're going. Yeah!" I suggest. "No, you can't. My mom made me apply for a military college. I'm leaving for 6 years and then straight to the military. There's a base in Maine, and my mom wants me to go there," Bradley says wryly. "Do you even WANT to do this?" I ask, a tear rolling down my cheek. "Of course! It's been my dream to help the country and fight. I leave....tonight," he answers. I sob and after a few seconds, Bradley goes to comfort me.

"Hey, it's okay. I'll be fine transforming on the base," he says. I hit him softly and yell, "It's not that! Bradley, I love you and I never wanted you to leave! I'm going with you whether you like it or not! Okay? I'm going with you!" Bradley strokes my hair and allows me to rest my head on his chest. "I'm going to miss you, Jana," he says, and begins to cry too.

It's 8:00 p.m., and I'm still crying. It's been 4 hours, but I can't think of being without Bradley. "Hey," I say, picking up his suitcase and placing it near the front door. Bradley stares at me, and leads me out to the porch. He kisses me, and tries to let go, but I pull him closer. He pushes me against the wall and rips through my shirt. I stand there while he kisses me behind my ear, and I do the same to him. I bite his neck and he growls and transforms.

I turn into a wolf as well, and we begin to run in the backyard and chase birds. We stop near a lake and go swimming. I bark a yip as Bradley splashes water at me with his tail. After a few minutes we get out and lay near the pond. The moon is bright and beautiful. This is the most fun I've had since I've been a a wolf. Bradley and I look at each other, and his ears perk up when he hears his mother call: "Bradley, it's time for you to leave!"

Bradley looks at me in sorrow, and begins to whine. I whine as well, and turn back into as human. Bradley does as well. "This is it," I say, sniffling. "I love you," Bradley sobs and kisses me on the lips. It isn't just a regular kiss. It's an "I'll love you forever" kiss. Sadly I break the kiss and get down on all fours. I'm a wolf again, and Bradley is too. We stare at the moon and back at each other and nuzzle our noses together. I breathe heavily, about to cry.

Bradley rubs his head on mine, and for the first time, we stare at the moon and howl.

This has been the best time of my life, but now it's over.

The End.
