Misunderstood and overmedicated, twelve-year-old Lilith Bloom finds the prospect of a grand family reunion decidedly dull... That is, until she discovers that the rose garden surrounding her grandfather's Berlin mansion is, well, completely and utterly carnivorous. Armed with Panther, her talking pet whippet, and the help of the mute boy next door, Lilith must unravel the secrets behind the mysterious estate, all while her family remains gloriously unaware that they are about to be devoured.

Review:
Lilith is... well, Lilith. She is unlike any character I have ever read, with astonishing perspective and beautifully written. Lilith has a real personality; she seems to live outside the screen, and I was so drawn to her and her story that I had to resort to hiding my laptop under the sheets and reading. Probably why I need glasses... Ah, well. Lilith's world was worth it.

The plot is incredibly unique, and endlessly fascinating. It is almost impossible to look at the characters objectively, such is the author's skill at presenting Lilith. The power of a child's perspective is brought out in Rosehead, much as it is in Harry Potter. And that's the highest praise I can give.

This story is not a romance, nor, I suppose, something you can read lightly. If you want to be interested, and like figuring things out, then this book is for you.

Bonus: It's completed.
