Review:
Laurel is who we all wish we could be: someone who doesn't like to piss people off, but not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. We have a touch of originality with a non-white female protagonist, who neither needs saving or does the saving; Laurel is just an ordinary, relatable girl.
She's inspiring because she is real - her loyalty to her friends, her practicality, her passion, her fear, her frustration. Whistleblower's magic lies in how close it is to reality; in fact, on another Earth, it probably is.
Definitely worth the read, if you're looking for something that breaks the stereotypes, while remaining within the boundaries of reality. Inspiring, and truly an incredible work of fiction. The characters will become your friends, and you will await each new chapter with such eagerness that it will concern you! Pure magic.
