Astrid wandered around the compound. Tracing her fingers along the walls, trying to remember what it was like when she was with her friends. Flash backs of their times together brought tears to her eyes.
She was about to wipe them away when she looked down and saw her tears float away on their own. They glowed with yellow gold as they evaporated. She turned around to see Carson standing there, his eyes glowing golden just like her tears. "We never had a proper greeting, did we?" He asked, smiling. Astrid sighed and turned around. "I think we did, Carson Danvers. I did my research anyway, and that's how I know you and your mother don't exactly have the same abilities. So you wanna tell me how you can makes tears glow?"

Carson laughed again and stepped closer to her. "Curious much?" He asked, it was rhetorical question but Astrid still nodded. "My dad, who I've never met, was an alien who served in the War of the Imprisoned. It was a pretty bloody time and he was taken as a prisoner and experimented on, kind of like my mom. Except he got different powers, including, glowing tears." It was supposed to be a joke but Astrid didn't even chuckle.
"Mom said he died in a raid on another planet somewhere." He finished. Another sad story Astrid was forced to hear.

"Look, I'd usually be pretty sympathetic towards these types of things but i think I've shed all the tears I can right now." She said before waking away. She was about to enter the science lab when she felt herself floating. Rolling her eyes, she carefully turned her head to address Carson again. "Put me down." She said plainly.

Carson shook his head, "No can do buckaroo." He smiled Astrid was starting to get annoyed now, all she wanted to do was find a way to save her friends and he was in the way of that. With little to no effort she sighed and sent a jolt of electricity towards him, not enough to kill him but enough to make him put her down. Carson jumped as the volt hit him, indeed dropping her. "Thank you. Now, there's a team meeting going on in the science lab and I'm sure they'd love if we were there." Astrid said, dusting off her pants. Carson nodded, blowing on his hand. The two continued to walk to the lab, Carson taking a seat next to his mother and Astrid standing in a corner.

"Okay, so our research hasn't really brought up anything new. We have a location for a refugee compound in Cuba. They have no way of getting out of the house because the people who operate the trains and bridges are all snapped." Bruce said solemnly. "So we'll be heading out there to help them so everyone suit up and meet us at the Quinjet in a few minutes. Um, Nebula can you stay behind with Pepper and watch over Tony please?" Natasha asked/instructed.

Tony and a bionic woman named Nebula had gotten back that same day and the whole compound was in shock and disarray. But the most disarraying thing to Astrid was that half of the world's people were snapped away and the Avengers were doing basic rescue missions! She couldn't stand it, stand the fact that no one was trying to help her friends.

"Have you all just completly forgotten about everyone else?" Everyone in the room turned to look at her. "What?" Natasha asked. Astrid stepped forward towards the table. She was kind of nervous to speak up, to let everyone know that this was fucked up. Suddenly, she felt a warmth surrounding her, she turned to see Conner winking at her. Smiling, she cleared her throat and spoke. "I know that it's still a sore topic but our friends and family died less than a month ago and we're going on a rescue opt to save some Cubans." Sadness carved into the faces of a bunch of the people in the room. Steve was the one to speak up. "Astrid that is dangerously argoant. Those people, whether of not they are our people or in iminate danger, are still in need of our help." Astrid shook her head.

"I'm not saying that we don't save the people, Cap, I'm saying that we stop taking on these amatuer police problems and leave them to, I don't know the police!" She yelled. No one said anything so she continued. "I know the only thing that you've all have really heard me say the whole time I've been here is that my friends are dead and it's like we're all trying to ignore that, like we're trying to forget that they lost their lives unwillingly in a battle that we lost." Carol spoke up.

"And what do you suppose we do?" She asked, crossing her arms. Astrid looked back at Conner, silently asking for him to come up to the table with her and speak. He nodded and made his way. "We suppose that we try and fix it." He said. Everyone looked confused. "When I was looking for a solution in the portal, I realized that Thanos is still alive somewhere, Nat do you still have that radar set up, the one that tells us when the stones are in use?" The spy nodded curiously.

"Ok that's a start. We use the radar to determine when the stones are in use and that's how we find Thanos." She concluded. "Once we get the stones we use them to bring back everyone." Conner stated. "Alright, I'll cut it on." Steve had this look on his face that Astrid cuaght out of the conner of her eye. It was like he was hoping that it was true, that he could bring back his daughter and everyone else he lost. But it was a look like he was trying to stop the hope, trying to stop the pain and sorrow from coming if they failed.

Astrid looked and him and nodded her head. "We'll got to Cuba and complete our mission to give the radar time to search and when we come back hopefully we'll have a lead that we can follow."

"And save the fucking world."
