Back To The Past

Okay so I am fully aware that the timeline for when Thor met Jane doesn't add up with Astrid and her brothers age, I know. But for story purposes, we're going to pretend that it does because otherwise, we have a colossal problem that would involve rewriting most of the storyline from both books. Okay? So cool.

"Are you ready?" Steve asked a safe distance away from the machine. Scott Lang gave a thumbs up, signaling Nat to start the time machine. It had been a few days since Tony turned down their help and they had been working tirelessly with Scott and Bruce to try and make a time machine but their attempts were in vain seeing as none of them worked.

But Scott said that he had a feeling about this one, that even if it didn't work it would pave the way for the right answer and they would eventually get it...he'd said this three times about three different machines that all failed. But nonetheless, they were willing to try again, and so Nat pulled the lever.

Sparks flew as Steve, Rocket, Bruce and Nat ducked behind a structure in case the blast wanted to throw one of them across the room...again. But to there surprise, when the light show was over...Scott was gone. Everyone looked around trying to find the scientist but after awhile they assumed that the machine had taken him somewhere, until something but Rockets ankle.

"What the fucky, fuck!" He yelled pulling out his gun. Everyone rushed over to him and just when  they thought they were charging into battle, a baby covered up by Scott's suit was on the floor rolling around. Palms hit faces and over the next few hours the attempts went from baby to kid to teenager and finally old man before they called it quits.

Everyone was tired and at that point, they had pretty much given up. So you may be wondering, hm where's our main character? Well, she was outside on the phone with Nate when an Audi pulled up to the compound and didn't stop until it was a few feet in front of her. The person stepped out and Astrid told Nate she'd call him back later and hung up.

Outstepped one Tony Stark, a black suit on and a pair of his signature sunglasses. "Tony?" Astrid chuckled, surprised to see the billionaire after what she thought was her failed attempt at motivation the night or two before. The philanthropist smiled before opening up the trunk to his car and pulling out a familiar looking shield...two at that. One looked older, more used more scratches...but the other, the other was fairly new looking, almost untouched but you could tell it had been used and that it belonged to someone important because it had the initials S.P.R on the hand strap.

"I um, I was going to bed that night that you all came by and um...Morgan had said something to me...I love you 3,000 is what she said and it reminded me of something Anthony had said when we were fighting Thanos of Titan. He told Sarah that he would never stop loving her, and he did everything in his power to get her off that planet and away from harm. I love my son, I do Astrid. It's just that now...well now I finally have everything that I lost back, and I don't wanna loose it again if I had the choice. But when I found these shields in my shed I couldn't help but think about my son and how he chose to love Sarah over everything and I can't just let their story end there, not when I have the opportunity to make it better so yes, I wanna help." He finished. Astrid didn't say anything, she just simply smiled and grabbed the two shields before leading Tony inside to greet the other Avengers and to discuss the new plan. But first, she had to put Sarah's shield somewhere so that no one would touch it until she got back and could use it again as she pleased.

Nathaniel hadn't seen his father since the day he faked his death, so yes he was quit nervous as the archer walked into the room at Natasha's side. The two men locked eyes and a world full of memories opened up in them. But all of the sadness, pain, grief and anger wasn't enough to over power the fact that, they were all each other had left...and that they missed each other, too. "Nathaniel." He said, tears forming in the corner of his eyes. Nate ran over to his father and they hugged each other so tight that if they weren't trained for this it would have been painful. "I missed you so much." Clint cried into his son's shoulders, Nate did the same. "I don't...I'm so sorry." Nate apologized through tears but as I said before, Clint couldn't find the space in him to hold the hate with everything else that he was feeling.
