Temple Ave.
Mako drives the girls back to the hotel. The silence in the car becomes deafening. He can't take it. "So what was with the red flames?"
Azula looks out the window. She seemed to be annoyed. "You already know the answer to that question. Unless you know another person who bends blue flames."
Mako stares at her for a moment then rolls his eyes. "Are you serious right now? That's all you have to say after everything you put me through today?"
Azula sighs heavily. "We should dissolve our engagement."
Mako immediately pulls the car over. Angry drivers begin honking and shouting at him. He takes a deep breath. He really needed to calm down. He knew Azula well enough to know that she didn't mean what she'd just said, but it still pissed him off. There was no way she was oblivious to how her actions affected them today. Just as he's about to give her an earful Azula places her hand on his leg and shakes her head no while continuing to look out the window. She subtly nods toward the backseat.
Mako glances back. Ty La still had her head lowered. He rolls his eyes and shakes his head. These women were going to drive him crazy.
After a minute of silence, Azula speaks up. "Well if neither of you has anything to say I'll contact my brother. He'll get the annulment process started."
Mako turns around in his seat. "Ty." The publicist looks up at him. "Did you hear what she just said?" She timidly nods. "Is this what you want?" She lowers her eyes but doesn't answer. He shakes his head. "Well, it's not what I want. I love you both and I want to marry you." He gets out of the car. "So whatever you two need to do to figure this out, do it and let me know what you decide. I'll come back to the hotel later."
Azula smirks subtly not surprised by her future husband's response. She watches him walk down the street knowing that he understood her intentions. "Are you driving us to the hotel or do I need to do it?"
Ty La swallows hard, gets out of the car, and sits in the driver's seat. She doesn't start the car right away. "Why are you with me?" She asks softly.
"I'd like to hear your answer to that question first." The princess says.
Ty La gulps. "You first." Azula raises her eyebrows. "I need to know."
Azula inhales slowly. "When I first met you, you were fearless…and beautiful." Ty looks up at her. "You were focused and willing to do your job no matter the cost. No matter how much I threatened you, you remained determined. You treated me like a normal person. You never gave up on me. And when you began pursuing me romantically you knew what you wanted. I admired and respected that. You left me no choice but to honor and love you."
The publicist averts her eyes. "Then why do you want to break up?"
"The question is why do you?" Azula asks.
Ty La looks completely confused. "I-I don't."
"Then why aren't you saying anything? Ever since we got engaged you've become docile and distant. I don't understand it. What changed? Why won't you…" Azula says as she's interrupted.
"Because it's real now." Ty La says. "And I don't know what to do."
The future Fire Lord furrows her brow. "Are you implying that our relationship wasn't real before?"
