Thrilled to hear to her say that I had a reprieve, I tugged her against me, kissing her hard on the mouth, hating the thought of ever having to let her go. Finally pulling back, I said, "Good, I'm glad. But just so you know, we're going to be spending all our free time together now. And then you'll have to see, I'm right, and it's me you want, and not him. You've got to know we belong together, Jennie, because I sure as hell do." 

Flashing those gummy smile she looked up at me and said, "As much as I enjoy being with you, Lisa. I think we're going to have to do more than just spend our time naked in bed, if we're even going to try to make this work." 

"Of course, I know that. We'll date, we'll go out, and we'll really get to know each other." I grinned. "And maybe we'll fool around a little, too." 

Finally she laughed and said, "Okay, we'll give it a try and see how it goes. But I'm not promising you anything." 

But as we walked together back to the side door of the restaurant something struck me, and I took hold of her arm and pulled her back and said, "There's one thing about this I don't get. Why did you tell me you'd never had a boyfriend, when you and this Kai guy are practically engaged?" 

With an awkward shrug, she said, "Well, I'd hardly call him my boyfriend, since we haven't even gone out together, at least alone. So we've never really dated. And to be honest, he never even tried to kiss me. Most of the time, we just see each other at church or at different functions, and we're always in a group. He's just a man that my father chose for me to marry, but I wouldn't exactly say we're close." 

I couldn't believe my fucking ears. Even more reason for her to dump his sorry ass. What the hell kind of guy asks a woman to marry him, and has never even tasted her lips - especially lips as irresistible as hers. 

Watching her walk through the restaurant doors and head back to the table ahead of me, I knew I'd have to change my ways, and learn what it took to win her over, since I'd never really tried before, considering I'd never had to. But with the stakes this high, I knew I'd have to learn what it took to be the kind of man she wanted and pretty fast, if I going to win her heart, because now that I had her, I just couldn't lose her. 

Especially not to that pathetic doofus in the shit brown suit...
