Lucette and I arrive and enter the throne room. Waiting for us is the king, our father.
"Your Majesty," Lucette says, bowing.
"Father," I say, also bowing.
The king smiles at us, "Y/n. Lucette. Are you ready?" He asks.
I nod while my sister does not reply.
"Lucette, you will certainly enjoy this. You will be able to see the true nature of the townspeople." The king says, looking at Lucette. Then he turns to me with a smile.
"Y/n, I'm sure the people of Angielle will be thrilled to see you once again. Please show Lucette that Angielle is a beautiful kingdom." My father says.
Before I can reply, Lucette speaks.
"Mother already taught us about what humans are like. Although Y/n might not admit it, I believe my sister knows how manipulative they are." Lucette says, looking at me.
"Lucette..." I mutter, looking at her. King Genaro sighs and frowns.
"You do not see clearly, Lucette. If you opened your eyes, you would see that people are good." He says.
Lucette closes her eyes and shakes her head."I believe I have already seen the true nature of people."
She opens her eyes.
"After all, I've seen that there is clearly no good in you," Lucette says, with a sharp and harsh glare. I flinch and feel the atmosphere turn heavy.
"Lucette, I-" My father says, trying to speak, but my sister shuts him down.
With the coldest look in her eyes, she stares directly at him.
"Where were you when Y/n and I needed you four years ago?" Lucette says, in an initiating, cold, tone. I bite my lip again and try to reason with Lucette.
"Lucette, please-" My sister cuts me off again.
"Where have you've been ever since? You tolerate Y/n more than you do to me, but I know you do not love either of us." She says. "Y/n is one of the only people who has shown me even the tiniest bit of love, but you haven't."
I turn to look at the king. He is deeply pained by what Lucette just said, and he closes his eyes as if he is ashamed.
Finally, my sister speaks in a cold, soft, tone.
"You cannot trust or rely on anyone but yourself. This is what you've taught me...your majesty." She says, whispering the last part. My heart breaks a little at Lucette's confession, but I knew she hated father for this.
The king takes a deep breath before replying.
"I know I've hurt you deeply, Lucette. But please, Ophelia and her children have done nothing to deserve the hate." He says in a soft voice that Lucette and I can still hear.
Glancing at my sister, she seems to be thinking about something. Her face shows sadness and pain though.
My father calls my sister's name one more time, but she refuses and says that she has already accepted to go to town.
"Everyone is already waiting outside..." He says, smiling sadly.
I bow to the king and he wishes Lucette and me a safe trip. Lucette seems to hesitate going outside, but I once again take her hand. She flinches a bit and opens her mouth to most likely protest, but I speak first.
"Come on, Lucette. Let's go. I"ll be right by your side."
She ignores me and starts walking ahead of me. However, I look down and smile. Lucette didn't want to let go of my hand after all.
