Y/n's 'dream'

I lay on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. I take a minute, or ten, to ponder about what I should do tomorrow.

My first option is that I could knock on Lucette's door, and walk with her to the dining room for breakfast. However, I'm afraid she'll get annoyed or there won't be any conversation between us at all.

I could also wait for my sister to come out of her room, and then pretend I didn't know she was there already. But one, that's weird and a bit creepy, and two, that still might be awkward.

My last choice is to avoid interacting with Lucette in the morning but start a conversation when we're in the dining room. This one seems the most likely to work. If Lucette doesn't want to speak with me, walking with her before breakfast isn't a good idea.

I sigh and roll over to my side on my bed.

Why am I overthinking this? It's so simple, but I'm afraid Lucette will get annoyed or mad at me.

'Don't follow me, Y/n."

I try to move Lucette's statement into the back of my head, but I can't stop focusing on it.

Maybe it's because my sister is kinder to me than anyone else. Or maybe it's just because she's my blood-related sister.

Frowning, I look around my room. Shelves decorated with books, fake flowers I made when I was little, and beautiful jewelry seem to be staring back at me.

"...A gift?" I mutter to myself.

Shaking my head, I look back at the ceiling.

"Lucette doesn't really like presents. She usually thinks it's a waste to be giving it to her or believes that presents are only used to get someone on your side."

Yawning, I glance at the time and my eyes widen.

11:58?!

I was supposed to be asleep at 11, how did it get this late? Time passed by so fast when I was thinking of Lucette.

Whatever, I need to get my rest now.

Closing my eyes, I drifted off and awaited tomorrow morning.

~~~
Chirp. Chirp.
I slowly open my eyes due to the fact of hearing the sound of birds outside my room.
At first, everything is hazy, but I quickly rub my eyes and push the blanket off of me.
Walking over to my vanity mirror, I picked up my hairbrush decorated with small, shiny, gems.
I sat down and immediately started brushing to straighten my slightly messed up hair.
"I should just go with the flow today. Stressing out on little things like meeting Lucette in the morning isn't necessary." I mutter, and place the brush down, standing up.
Taking in a deep breath, my hand grasps the door handle and I walk outside.
"I'm a bit nervous for some reason," I whispered to myself, passing by maids who bowed their heads when I said hello.
I take the direction which leads to the dining room, however, it coincidentally makes you have to pass by Lucette's bedroom.
I bit my lip and start walking through the hallway, my eyes focused on my sister's bedroom. I expect it to open any second now, but for some reason, It never does.
'Should I knock on her door?'
Hesitating, I look at the door handle.
It's tempting me, but I try my best to resist it.
"Princess?"
I slowly turn my head around. It's a maid with long, brown, hair.
"Oh. Yes?" I ask, putting a smile on.
"The king requests your presence in the dining room." She says, bowing to me.
I quickly nod and tell her I'll be there. Looks like I'll have to stick with my last option anyways.
After arriving at the dining hall, I open the doors and slowly walk in and take my seat.
"Good morning, Y/n." The king says to me.
I smile, "Good morning, father."
"Good morning, dear." Ophelia also says.
Once again, I say "good morning" back.
Looking around the room, it seems normal, but at the same time, not.
Emelaigne is smiling at me, while Rod is staring at his plate. However, the most important person is missing.
Lucette.
Is she still sleeping? That's highly unlikely though, my sister always makes it before Emelaigne or walks with me.
I decide to just believe Lucette overslept for the first time, and talk to her when she comes.
"Since everyone is here, let us begin," Father says.
"Huh?" I say, looking at him.
I glance at the empty seat next to me, where Lucette always sits.
"But, Lucette hasn't come yet?" I state, confused.
Father frowns and Ophelia has a confused look on her face. Emelaigne looks confused, and Rod looks shocked for some reason as he stares at me.
"Dear, who's Lucette?" Ophelia speaks, her eyes filled with confusion.
"W-What? Mother, Lucette is my sister. We're blood-related. She's supposed to be the Crown Princess of Angielle." As soon as I say these words, everyone's faces show even more confusion, especially Emelaigne.
"Y/n, Emelaigne is the crown princess." The king says.
I bite my lip and I swear my head is spinning.
"I don't understand. Father," I turn my head to the king. He stares back at me. "How many children did my mother have?" I ask.
The king hesitates for a few seconds but then says, "One. That's you, Y/n.".
"..." I stare dumbfounded at the floor, an expression of disbelief on my face.
"Y/n, dear, perhaps you just dreamed about a girl named Lucette?" Ophelia says to me, a small smile on her face as she reaches out for my hand.
Everything in my body and head says that this is wrong. But I can't make a scene. What's happening?
I can't reply, as I just stare at the dining table. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Emelaigne and Rod staring at me, especially Rod. He looks..shocked?
Frowning, I slowly nod my head and mutter a small "Yea." Ophelia obviously doesn't buy it, but she smiles at me and then lets go of my hand.
..What's happening here?
