We've been driving for six whole weeks! It's been a hard six weeks. We've struggled but made it through allot of road problems. We were pulled over at a barricaded Waffle House. Kayla fixed us some food she found in the freezer. Ashley got old cold pancakes and I got cold hasbrowns.
I think I'm more tired than anybody because I didn't sleep much at all. I'm so tired, that I can't even chew my food even tho I'm really hungry.
Could taking a short nap turn into a nightmare? No, it can't, it'll be super short.
But how can I take a quick nap if Ashley keeps talking to me? It'll be rude if I just fall asleep while she's talking.
Ashley sat across from me with a plate infront of her. She wasn't as tired as Kayla and I. She went on and on about different types of flowers she had collected before.
She seemed to be be in her own world when she endlessly talked. Maybe she wouldn't notice if I took a quick nap?
I slowly pulled the hood of my hoodie over my eyes completely blocking her out.
She still talked so I take it she hasn't noticed me yet. My eyelids got heavy along with my head. My head slowly fell down intill it settled in the hashbrowns.
For 10 seconds I got alittle shut eye, then Ashley noticed.
"Ozzie!" She said. "Are you even listening!?!"
I nodded. She sighed. "You know your face in your hashbrowns right?"
I nodded. "Come on Ozzie get up, you gotta eat". "Besides, don't you wanna know what a Middlemist Red Middlemist Camellia is?"
I bit back my groan and raised my face out of the hashbrowns. Ashley handed me a napkin so I could wipe the ketchup off my face.
While I wiped it off, Ashley started talking again. When it was all off, I let my head sit in my palm.
My mind wondered off to Kayla.
Jacksonville was far far behind us. It wasn't easy but we actually made it all the way to Illinois.
I've never been in Illinois before and it's kinda weird. Its all woods and flat land. There are no palm trees or trees with moss on them. It wasn't as humid as Florida was and that allowed me to put on my hoodie without overheating. There's allot of woods so most zombies weren't in the streets or in buildings.
Kayla sat at the bar drinking coffee and staring in space. She looked very tired. I'm kinda worried about her because earlier this morning, she exploded.
The sun was peeking over the farm in the distance. Kayla has been driving all day. Surprisingly she was still wide awake.
Ashley was knocked out with her head resting on my shoulder. She snored loudly and drooled making me regret agreeing to be her pillow. There was no moving now tho.
I myself was ready to pass out but I had to fight against it. If I have a nightmare, I'll have an accident and then that two minutes of sleep won't be worth it. I focused on staring out the window.
The dusty pink sky hovered over Illinois' flat land and blotches of wooded area zipped pass my window along with a few zombies.
The flat terrain disappeared when we rode on top of a bridge. Everything below us was murky water.
Suddenly, Kayla slammed on the breaks. Ashley's body slid off the seat and into the back of the passenger seat.
"Why would you do that?" Ashley demanded getting to her feet while rubbing her head.
Kayla couldn't answer because her hand was cuffed over her mouth. She opened her door and ran outside to the edge of the bridge. Then, she started throwing up into the water.
