"Ozzie...Ozzzzzie". Peter murmured nudging my knee. "Ozzzzzie wake up".
I kept ignoring him because I was so tired. I felt a pinch on my shin. I jerked up to catch Peter pinching me.
He was still in bed but wide awake. Sunlight shined through my window and spread out all around the room. It made Peter's red hair glow alittle. He seemed better, that's good. I noticed that there was a warm blanket over my body. I wondered who placed it there.
"What did we say about hitting?" I demanded.
Peter placed a finger against his lips. "Shhhh, you'll wake up Ashy". He whispered.
I looked to my right. Ashley sat in a chair next to me. She quietly slept with her chin in her palm. I didn't even hear her come in last night. Blood was splattered all over her shirt and dried blood was on her hands. Her eyelids weren't closed all the way, I could see her bloodshot eyes. I also noticed the dark circles under her eyes. Dozens of books lied at her feet. Its really surprising because Ashley isn't the best reader and she hates doing it. All the book's pages were turned to something about seizures. It really made me wonder if Ashley actully cared that much.
"Peter", Ashley murmured sounding really tired. "I'm not asleep, so just go ahead and say what you have to say".
Peter turned back at me. "I'm hungry, can someone make me some food?"
Ashley and I exchanged looks determining who was going to do all the work.
"Hey, I stood up all night watching him after you dozed off", Ashley murmured "It's only fair if you do it".
That wasn't much of a good point but I'll do it anyway.
I got up from my seat and stretched out. Ashley did the same then went to the restroom.
When I walked into the kitchen, I checked the cabinets for food. Each one had nothing, that made me worried. I checked again and even in the fridge. Nothing. I could've sworn we had atleast two more days worth of food left.
I checked one more time. This time, I found a dusty can of cream corn that had rolled under the refrigerator. I sighed in relief and grabbed it.
None of us had dinner last night and there's no way this will serve as breakfast for all three of us. I guess Peter can have it. Ashley and I can go without food longer than Peter.
I grabbed one of the bent old spoons and went back in my room. When I got in there, Peter was still in bed waiting on me. I sat back in my seat.
"So Peter", I said trying to open the can with the spoon. "Do you remember anything about our game of hide and seek yesterday?"
"Yeah". He answered. "I remember you taking forever to count to one hundred".
"That's it?"
"Yep!" Peter said. I finally got the can open and gave it to Peter. He started eating from the can. I rolled my eyes at his sloppy eating. I guess that means he doesn't remember the seizures.
"Ozzie", Peter called looking up from the can "How did I get this boo boo on my head?" "It hurts".
"Um...you fell".
"But I don't remember falling".
"You don't remember because...magic".
Peter nodded. "Ohhh ok". He went back to eating his food.
"Ozzie!" Ashley called. "Can we talk for a sec?"
I sighed having a bad feeling about this but I got up anyway. I closed my door behind me. Ashley was waiting for me in the kitchen. She leaned against the kitchen table with her arms crossed and a blank look on her face.
