2 months later...

It's the Krelboyne picnic and all parents, faculty, and students are in attendance for the event.  Lois is mingling with the mothers and seems to be enjoying herself until one mother is being a controlling pest and telling everyone what they can and can't do.  Lois might be looking in the mirror but this mother makes Lois look sensible.  It wasn't until Caroline noticed and has been keeping an eye on Lois to see if she needs to intervene.

Caroline:  Lois!  How are you?!  How are things?

Lois:  Fine until this banshee opened her mouth.

Caroline:  Oh don't worry about her, I just smile and think positively.  It's been going on like this for years.

Lois:  Well it can't.  Don't worry about me sweetie.  It's her you need to worry about.

Caroline is scared as she heads back into mothers's group.  If that wasn't awkward enough,  she was wearing a silly mime costume on a day Lois would be there.

The day goes by until Lois reaches her breaking point with the controlling mother and curses her out in front of everybody as Caroline watches in shock and awe.

Lois:  What's the matter with all of you?!!!  How long are gonna keep dealing with this?  Are you just gonna listen to her and let her walk on you?!!!

Mothers: No!!!

Controlling mother:  Nonsense, we're all having fun.  Aren't we Helen?

"Helen":  My name's not Helen, it's Corinne!!!!!  And I've had it with you!!!!

Mothers:  Yeah!!!!

This goes on for the remainder of the event as Lois turns around and proudly smirks at the revolt she caused.  After Malcolm impresses with this intellectual prowess, the Wilkerson family leave as Caroline smiles while looking at Lois' butt as she walks away.  A parent asks her what she's looking at and she awkwardly replies,  "nothing".

2 weeks later...

The Wilkerson family are broke and out of food as Lois got fired from her job.  Caroline hears of this through Malcolm's crush and arranged a food drive for them.  Unbeknownst to Caroline, it's not enough and are still in need.  Caroline comes to pay them a visit and all she can hear is Lois and Hal arguing at the doorstep.  At this point she's not surprised to hear arguing at that house but she is surprised to hear a man's voice.  She comes in anyway and wishes to speak to Lois alone.

Hal goes to their room and Lois and Caroline are left alone to talk.

Caroline:  Hi Lois.

Lois:  Caroline.

Caroline:  I'm sorry if I'm intru-

Lois:  Please,  it's fine.

Caroline:  Through Malcolm's little lady friend I'm aware of your situation and have arranged the good drive.

Lois:  (Places her hand on Caroline's hand)  Thank you.

Caroline:  (Gulps)  My pleasure.  Malcolm doesn't seem to happy with the contribution and that's why I came over.  Malcolm is special and his family (looking at Lois deeply) are special and I'll do anything to help.  That's why (pulling $2,000 of money out of her purse) this would help you in any way.

Lois:  (Voice breaking)  Oh!  I can't!   This is your money and you've done so much for us.

Caroline:  Don't think as if you'd owe me.  It's the least I can do.  Malcolm doesn't have to know Anna think of it as a gift.

Lois:  How can I-

Caroline:  Don't, please.

Lois accepts the money and embraces Caroline for long moment.  Their chests are pressed together while Caroline rubs Lois' back and smells her hair and Lois doesn't seem to notice.  They slowly let go and their faces slide against each other as they break from their hug.  They smoke at each other and their faces change into more serious expressions and get closer but are cut off by a phone ringing.   Caroline looks away and leaves as quickly as she possibly could while Lois heads to answer the phone.
