Reese, Stevie and Malcolm read about the Tri-County Fair in town on a magazine.  Unfortunately, it's the last weekend for them to go.  Malcolm and Reese want to go with Stevie, but Malcolm then remembers that they're grounded. Stevie comes with an idea to trick Lois and Hal into letting them finish their punishment at his place for a sleepover.  The boys like the idea as Stevie believes he can convince his parents to do the same. Malcolm and Reese both ask Lois if they can go to Stevie's and Lois readily agrees as it would get her boys out of the house for one night.

Stevie is trying to get his parents to agree but Kitty isn't very convinced in allowing Stevie to spend the night at Malcolm's place over the family's lifestyle.  Abe convinces her as he wants their son to be a normal kid for once.

Meanwhile, Malcolm makes plans to see Stevie soon at the fair, but then Dewey catches their plan after spying on them.  They catch Dewey and Dewey tells them that they better allow him to go to the fair with them if they don't want their parents to find out.  Reese threatens to beat him up to no avail as Dewey seems unfazed.  Dewey also convinces Malcolm to let him go on the trip and promising not to tell anyone about it.  Malcolm convinces Lois that Stevie wants Dewey to go to his house.

Hal and Lois are enjoying a night in without the boys in the house making out en route to dinner. They cook a romantic dinner and are enjoying themselves. That is until Francis calls in from Marlin Academy, just to say hello and hoping to talk to Malcolm, Reese and Dewey. Lois tells him that they're at Stevie's house and when she and Hal makes out again, he hangs up in disgust.

The boys finally make it to the Tri County fair just before closing. Malcolm blames being late on Dewey due to his uncontrollable bladder.  Reese agrees, mentioning that he cost them 2 hours each time he made the bus stop to take him to the restroom. The boys are denied entry as they get there by the operator who tells them to go home and come back tomorrow. The boys refuse and sneak inside regardless.

Hal and Lois were hoping to spend the evening having sex until Stevie's parents showed up to check up on Stevie unannounced.  Abe looks shocked and disgusted at the sight but Kitty looks unfazed as she's focusing on Lois.  Kitty is calm on the outside but excited on the inside.  They all then have discovered that their sons had lied and an angry topless Lois tells Hal to get her bra.

On the road inside the Kenarban's fancy van, Kitty is clearly looking for Stevie and Lois asks her to say "Stevie" at least every 5 minutes.  Lois then tells her that they are concerned, but she is also angry and plans to punish Malcolm, Reese and Dewey for lying.  Hal comes up with an idea to call Francis at Marlin Academy and he could help point them in the right direction. He calls later on and claims he doesn't know what's going on. Lois is asking Francis to help them find the boys and promises he wouldn't be grounded. He seems to not know anything.  However, a furious Kitty then threatens to jump through the phone and rip off his mouth if he doesn't help her and his parents find the boys.  Lois appears frightened but a little excited as no one else spoke to the rebellious Francis that way.  Francis then agrees to help them out by giving them some places to seek for ideas.

As the men search for the boys at the junkyard, Lois comforts Kitty putting her arm around her nd makes her see how much they in this together as parents.  Kitty lets out a smile looking at Lois and seems to want to make a move as their faces inch close to each other until Hal rushes back into the car interrupting the moment.  Francis calls again, this time he mentions the Tri-County Fair, Lois realizes that's where the boys are and Abe turns his car around to head to where they are.

The parents arrive soon after and Kitty thanks the carnies for looking after Stevie. Lois apologizes for any inconvenience that her boys caused.  The carnies say that it's fine and the parents are ready to leave and start honking the horn with the boys in front have to walk home. Abe and Hal are focusing on the boys in the front on the van oblivious to Lois and Kitty awkwardly stealing glances at each other while holding hands.
