Mystery She-wolf

Mystery POV

I treaded through the forest sniffing the air hoping to catch a whiff of her scent. I heard a noise behind me and jumped up spooked until I saw it was only a small little bunny rabbit. I cooed at it and it hopped away as I smiled. "No stupid wolf, we have to find Maya as fast as we can," I said growling at myself before shaking my head and continuing to walk around looking for her. Stopping I heard some wolves talking a bit far off but not too far. I sniffed the air and realized I'm almost to a pack but which one I'm not sure. I stalked forward to listen closely to the patrol wolves. "Yeah, the Alpha found his mate, a pretty young lass at that" one said with a hint of Irish in his voice "Yeah, she looks almost like she could be the Sun King's daughter" the other one chuckled obviously joking but this made my ears prick up and listen more. "What was the lass's name again?" "I believe it was something like Maya" "Right right" the wolves both chuckled smiling. 

Just my luck, I landed right at the pack she's in. If she looks like the King's daughter then most likely she is the King's daughter. I sneakily moved around the guards keeping my scent masked. I didn't want to be found out, even though I could easily fight off those guards I don't like to fight. The guards continued to talk not bothering much about anything around them, oblivious that I was walking past. They're not doing a very good job of guarding, I think as I keep walking. Soon enough I reach a small clearing and I look around, sure enough, Maya was there with her mate. They were both walking next to each other smiling and talking. The Alpha told her something and he left. Perfect, time for me to go and see what's been going on down here.

Maya POV

Josh smiled telling me he had to go to a meeting but would be back soon enough. I smiled and nodded before sitting down, not noticing a familiar scent stalking up behind me. Suddenly I'm tackled onto the ground but for some reason, I'm not scared or worried. I turn my head to see a deep brown small wolf on top of me. Without hesitation, I lick her all over her face wagging my tail rapidly. I nuzzle my head against her before gently knocking her off of me. "Riley!" "Maya!" Riley grinned a big wolfy grin at me and I let out a bark in happiness. "What are you doing here?" "The king sent me down to come personally check on you. But where did your mate go? And I thought you would be inside at this time of day" "Oh he went to a meeting and we had gone out for an early morning hunt. Wait you know he's my mate?!" "Of course, it's so obvious with the way you look at him"

I coughed looking down feeling my cheeks heat up from embarrassment. I could tell Riley was trying her hardest to not laugh, I don't ever get flustered but even the mention of Josh has my fur turning red. "Come on, I'll take you to the packhouse and-" I was cut off from a low deep growl that sent shivers down my spine. Josh leaped in front of me with his ears pinned back growling and baring his teeth. Riley yelped falling back staring up at him with her own ears pinned back but in fear. "Who are you and what do you think you're doing talking to my mate!" "O-Oh I'm Riley, I was sent down here to check on Maya since her father couldn't" Josh suddenly stop baring his teeth and looked between Riley and me. "Your father?" "Oh yeah, he's umm ill and can't come to check on me" I laughed nervously trying to give him a sweet smile. "And what did Riley mean when she said she came down here" "Oh, um we're from the north, you know coming down south" Josh stayed quiet for a few seconds and I held my breath looking at him.

"You, Riley, come with us" Josh spoke in his Alpha tone that just made my wolf purr. Riley nodded and the three of us began walking to the packhouse. Some heads turned to look at us quite curious as to who this new she-wolf was and what she was doing here. I stayed next to her to help her feel comfortable, knowing she doesn't like this kind of attention. She softly leaned against me with her head drooping a bit and I licked her cheek to help her calm down. She sighed softly starting to calm down once we made it to the packhouse. "You two go to Maya's room and get dressed and I will go do the same in my room" "wait you have a room for me?" "Why else do you think I wanted to go on a morning hunt today? Besides, it can be Riley's room soon enough because I want you staying with me in my room" He smirked and I rolled my eyes leading Riley away from him, not wanting to fall into his tricks. We made it to the room and once I shifted and put some jeans and a shirt on Riley followed. I smiled throwing her a floral dress knowing that's what she normally wears. She smiled gratefully putting it on. "So, why did my dad send you here really" "Well... he knows you found your mate..."
