Success [with a price]

Maya POV

I didn't sleep much after Josh had left. I felt so empty inside and I just wanted his company. I sigh seeing the sunlight start to penetrate through the entrance of my small cave. Great, Josh must already be on his way. I sigh standing up deciding to at least go wash my fur. Peeking out from the entrance I start to make my way to the small river nearby.  There's no doubt he will follow me here so I should wash my fur as fast as I can so he won't stop to watch me. I realize I'll be in wolf form washing but still. I smiled seeing the slow moving river and I jump in sighing at the coldness. I can feel the water wash away any dirt and mud that was left on my pelt. 

I shake my fur as I hop out of the river sending droplets of water everywhere. I checked my reflection in the river water to see her fur was pure white like it had been before. Though I could see another wolf behind me. A pure black wolf was smiling dumbly at me and I groaned knowing full well that it was Josh. "Josh when did you get here?" "Around four minutes ago, just long enough to get a good eye of your clean fur" I smiled at him unable to stay mad at him for more than a few minutes. I walked past him brushing my tail over his muzzle and he immediately began to follow me like a lost puppy. 

I laughed a bit and took off running and he followed now realizing I was playing with him. I ran between trees and jumped over logs. He followed suit and I could see he was wagging his tail a bit out the corner of my eye. I kept running heading towards the cave and stopped running once I was almost there. Josh however was having too much fun and decided to tumble into me sending me rolling over. He landed on top of me laughing as he gazed down at me. His fur glistened in the sunlight and his eyes looked deeply into my own. He leaned forward gently pressing his nose against mine and softly took in my scent. My tail began to wag fast and my cheeks felt hot. 

He pulled away and got up off me before nudging me to help me up. "let's go hunt for some food babygirl" he smiled and I nodded while Sabrina howled in joy while I told her to shut up. Josh nuzzled my cheek and began to walk sniffing the air for food. I know fully well he has food back on his pack lands but I also know he's an Alpha male who wants to impress his mate, A.K.A. me. I followed behind him allowing him to take the lead. He sniffed perking his ears and I stayed quiet following him still before he stopped and put himself in front of me telling me to stop. He wanted to hunt for me, provide for me, show me how he can take care of me and my wolf.

I sit down and wait watching him as his wolf Uriah took over and began to stalk forward towards the prey. Uriah leaped forward and bit down on the deer's neck clawing the body making it go down. The deer fell to the ground twitching and bucking slightly still trying to get free but to no avail. The life in the deer's eye eventually drained and the body went limp. I watched as Uriah retreated back and Josh came back into control as he dragged the deer over to me. He set the lifeless body down in front of me and he nudged it towards me to eat. I happily began to eat loving the taste of a fresh kill. 

I soon finished and walked over to Josh nuzzling him and licking the side of his muzzle. He wagged his tail at the affection. I knew right now that I wouldn't be able to leave his side, we were soul bound for life. I flicked my tail over his back circling him as he sat and watched me show my affection for him. I don't want to have to go back to the sun to rule yet, I just got here. I'm going to try stay here with Josh for as long as possible. I touched noses with him taking in his scent smiling as I felt him take in my scent as well. I can't live without him now, I don't how I did before.

I will be updating this book a lot more now, but I have been sick [again] with the flu so I'm still getting over that but that shouldn't really keep me from updating.
