Chapter 7: Worries

Natasha, Steve and Bucky leap out of the pool and try to fight of the armed men.

Peter picks me up and carries me out of the swimming pool, he runs away from the fight with me in his arms.

We burst into a bedroom and Peter puts me down on the ground.

"Quick, hide in the closet or something" he insists with a worried look on his face.

"Yeah, come on" I say.

"I'm actually going to help the avengers" he stutters, "they need me".

"But... but you can't just leave me here" I say as I feel tears welling up in my eyes.

"I'm really sorry Y/n, I wish I could stay here with you but duty calls" he says as he cups my face with his hands.

A tear rolls down my cheek.

Peter wipes it away with his finger "please don't cry princess, I promise I'll be back before you know it".

"Okay... I'll just hide then, please be safe" I beg.

He places a gentle kiss on my forehead and leaves the room.

Please god let Peter and the others be safe.

An hour passed as I decide to carefully leave my hiding spot, the sound of fighting died away about twenty minutes ago.

I carefully poke my head around the corner and find an empty hallway.

Why is the facility so big... I have no idea where I am.

I wander through some empty halls before I see tony in his Iron-man suit, a defeated look on his face.

"Tony, what happened?" I ask concerned.

"Oh, hey kid..." he stutters "we... we lost".

Thor, Bucky and Wanda enter the room.

"Where are the others?" I ask shocked and concerned.

"Hydra... they took them" Wanda replies.

"What what do you mean took them?" I ask in disbelief.

"They took everyone to I don't know where" she responds while the happenings from the last hour really hit her.

My eyes fill up with tears and Wanda pulls me in a tight, comforting hug.

As I let go I look around and see Bucky staring out the window, he looks empty.

I walk up to him and put my hand on his shoulder. At first his muscles tense underneath my hand but after a few seconds he relaxes.

"It's going to be okay" I comfort him.

"Thanks it means a lot hearing that from you" he says "you seem like an honest person".

Then Tony speaks up "we've got to get to work guys, we need to find the others as soon as possible".

"Are we going to find them with your technology?" Thor asks not knowing what exactly he's talking about.

"I was thinking of something different, since I can't locate any Hydra bases with my technology we need something else" Tony announces.

"Like what a super spy who can fly or something?" Bucky says sarcastically.

"Yes, I was thinking about Y/n" Tony replies with a straight face "you can transform into any animal right kiddo?"

"Yes I can but I haven't really used my powers to spy on someone yet and I don't have Natasha here to teach me" I answer hesitantly.

"Yeah you're right, that's a problem" Tony sighs.

"I... I could maybe teach her some basics and give her some information about how Hydra works" Bucky speaks up.

"Okay, you two work on that while I get my men to clean up this mess. Oh and Wanda and Thor take a break, you deserve it" Tony instructed.

Bucky and I head to the training room. First he tells me something about Hydra, who they are, what they do and what their motives are. Then I tell him something about my ability.

Together we come up with a plan to find Hydra and Bucky starts teaching me the basics of spying.

"So what kind of animal are you comfortable with?" Bucky asks me as we sit down to discuss our plan.

"I lived like a cat back in the days but I don't know if that's a great animal to spy on someone" I say "I mean it's kinda weird if a cat is following you all the time".

Bucky chuckles "you're right but the thing about spying is that you won't really be noticed".

"Can't I just go spying in my human form then?" I ask a little bit confused.

"Well that's the thing, Hydra is used to spies so they are really alert when they see someone following them" he pauses "but they wil never see it coming when a cat spies on them as long as you don't act too suspicious".

"I just hope it works... I mean if I fuck up we will not make any progress, you know"

"I believe in you, you have something to fight for just like me" he puts a comforting hand on my shoulder and looks me in the eyes "you will make this work Y/n, just act like a cat".

About a week later I'm getting ready to leave for my first patrol round.

Bucky asked Tony to make you some kind of tracking device in the form of a collar.

"Here's the collar Bucky ordered" Tony hands me the collar "it shrinks and grows with you so you can just keep it on when you transform. I also added a little camera and an earpiece so we can follow you and give you instructions".

"And that's all in this collar?"

"Yes it is, I might have also added a little button you can push in case of an emergency, just to make sure you're safe" he added with a little smile.

"Thanks, I hope this will work out..."

"You can do this kid, you've had training from Bucky and I believe in you" he comforts me "you can always reach me through your earpiece".

I put the collar around my neck and transform into my cat form.

A little while of wandering through the neighbourhood later I see a man on an abandoned parking lot. He's clearly waiting for someone.

I sit down on a trash can and start licking my paw to not look suspicious.

Another man approaches, he wears a cap and sunglasses so I can't see his face.

The men trade packages and then the one with the cap and sunglasses leaves.

"Tony, there's some shady deal going on here, I'm going to follow one of the men involved." I whisper in my collar.

"Be careful" I hear Tony say in my ear.

I follow the guy to an apartment, he opens the door and gets inside. I observe the building and after a minute I see a light turn on at the third floor.

I climb all the way up to overhear his phone call through the window.

"Tony, you might want to hear this"
