Chapter 14: Cheater

"I... I can't cheat on Peter" I stutter while looking at Olive with a confused face.

"Well, you can't break the rules either" she giggles with an evil smirk on her angelic face.

"Fine, I'll do it" I say while walking up to Nathan. I give him a quick peck on the lips and try to get away from him as fast as possible.

"You can hardly even call that a kiss!" Olive sneers "try again" she orders.

I get annoyed, walk up to Nathan and press my lips against his but pull away when I hear the sound of glass shattering against the floor. I look over my shoulder and see Peter in standing in the doorway. He looks at me with confusion in his eyes but it quickly turns into sadness. Then he turns around and walks away quickly.

"Peter... Peter please wait" I yell "Peter we were playing truth or dare" I run after him. I find him in his room, his head buried in his pillow. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that" I try to comfort him.

"Can you please just leave" he responds without lifting his head up from the pillow.

"I..." I feel tears welling up in my eyes, "yeah yeah I'll leave". I turn around and bump into Olive on my way out. "Olive he wants to be alone" I say to her.

"I'll see that for myself" she sneers as she walks past me. I decide to go back to the living room to find Ned, MJ and Nathan in a discussion, they go quiet when they see me.

"Y/n, what happened?" MJ asks me while she pats on the couch beside her as a sign for me to sit there.

"Peter told me to leave" I mumble as I sit down. "He seemed pretty upset".

"I'm so sorry" Nathan says "it's all my fault, I shouldn't have let you kiss me".

"Nathan" I begin "it isn't your fault, Olive put me up to this". I look at Nathan and smile at him, he smiles back at me, "speaking of Olive, she went to Peter after I left" I pause for a second before continuing "and he didn't send her away".

"I'll go check on them" Ned announces and he immediately jumps up from the couch to leave the room.

"Ned" I say and Ned turns around in response "I don't think you should interrupt them, just check okay". Ned nods and leaves the room.

Five minutes later Ned comes back into the room with Olive and Peter right behind him. I give Ned a confused look but he ignores me, instead Olive and Peter walk towards me.

"Peter" I say relieved "I'm really sorry that happened, I promise I'll never do something like that again". I get up from the couch and hug Peter, he hesitates for a moment before hugging me back. "Are... are you still mad at me" I ask hesitantly "because I get it if you are".

"I'm not mad at you anymore" Peter says and he smiles at me, I gladly return the smile. "Olive gave me some advice and forgiving you was a part of it".

"So that means we're good?" I ask Peter with a short-lasting smile on my face. Peter looks to the ground before meeting my eyes.

"I think it's better if we break up..." he replies. I feel paralysed, I can't speak or move. A single tear runs down my face as I feel MJ's arm wrap around me.

"It's okay" she whispers when she sits me down on the couch "we'll get through this together". After a few minutes of crying I fall asleep.

The next morning I wake up in my bed in the avengers facility. I turn my head to look at Peter's half of the bed and remember what happened last night. I decide to get out of bed and have a productive day to make myself feel better when I see a note on my nightstand.

Y/N, MJ and I brought you home last night because you fell asleep at Peter's house. I hope you feel better and if you need me I'm always here for you.

PS. I quite liked the kiss ;)

I put down the note and walk downstairs to eat something before heading to the gym to train with Nat. After my training I decide to get something to eat from the kitchen and start making myself some pancakes.

Peter loves pancakes. I shouldn't think about Peter

I sigh and flip my pancake.

"Hey there" I hear behind me. I quickly look behind me to find Nathan standing in the doorway.

"Hey, how did you get in here" I ask with a confused look on my face.

"The guards let me in" Nathan replies "those pancakes smell delicious by the way".

"Would you like some" I question him, he nods. I turn around to get another plate and finish up the pancakes. I carry the plates to the table and we sit down together to eat.

It's silent for a bit before Nathan begins to speak "are you okay?" he looks at me with worry in his eyes.

"Yeah, why are you asking" I reply while looking down at my pancakes.

"Well, Peter broke up with you yesterday and I thought you would be more emotional about it" he says, still worried.

"I know it's going to be okay and that he just needs a break" I state now looking right into Nathan's beautiful jade eyes.

"I like your confidence" he laughs with a smile no girl can resist. I smile back at him and we chat a bit more while finishing our pancakes. "Do you want to go out and do something fun together?" he asks when I stand up from the table to clean up the plates.

"Yeah sure, what did you have in mind?" I say over my shoulder while walking towards the kitchen. Nathan follows me and we decide to go to the arcade together.

"This brings back so many happy memories" Nathan says while we walk through the arcade to choose a fun game to play. " I used to come here all the time when I was younger" then he takes my hand and pulls me towards a game. "This was my favourite game, it's called Galaga" he looks down at me and smiles "why don't you give it a try".

"Sure, how does it work?" Nathan quickly puts a coin in the machine and the game begins to play.

"Try it yourself first" he suggests but when he notices I really have no idea how to play he decides to help me. He puts his hand on top of mine and shows me how the game works.

We spend the rest of the afternoon in the arcade, playing all sorts of games and having a good time together. When the evening falls we decide to head back to the avengers facility to have dinner with the avengers.

After we finish the delicious meal, we decide to head upstairs and watch a movie in my room. We sit down on the bed and scroll through Netflix.

"What about 'to all the boys I've loved before'?" Nathan asks with a grin on his face.

"I've already seen that movie" I respond and I think back to the night Peter asked me to go to prom with him and where we shared our first kiss. "You know, actually, I don't really feel like watching a movie" I say and look Nathan in the eyes. He notices the sad look on my face and places a hand on my shoulder to comfort me.

"Hey, are you okay" he hesitantly says with a worried look in his eyes.

"Yeah It's just a memory" I reply dryly while I try to avoid eye contact with Nathan.

"Y/n... I need to tell you something"
