"AND HE HITS IT! HE SMASHED IT PEOPLE!"
I throw my hands in the air, and run towards Lucas, who's smiling.
"I actually did it?" he asks.
"YEAH YOU DID!" I yell, and I put an arm around his shoulder.
"You smashed a ball".

Our coach walks towards us, clapping her hands.
"Okay guys, time to calm down. Nice job Farell, try to have a better aim next time, it was almost out".
"I meant to do that" Lucas says. "So they wouldn't try to save it".
Coach Smith raises an eyebrow.
"Alright then. Well, this was it guys, time to change".

The people in the room all walk to their respective changing rooms. It's mostly girls. There's Anna, Claire, girl with pink hair, Kathryn... And a few others. Me, Lucas and my other friend Dean are the only guys on the team. It doesn't matter to me, I love doing this a lot more than I liked playing football. The girls are all very nice, and practice is a lot less brutal. I don't have bruises all over my body anymore, though my wrists hurt a lot now.

I change clothes, and look in the mirror. I ruffle my blond hair, and smile. I look good today.
"Nice shot Luc" Dean says, putting on his shoes.
"Thanks man" Lucas says, with a smile. "I hope Jay saw it".
"Jay?" I ask.
"Girl with pink hair" Dean clarifies. "Her real name is really long, something like Jamie Lynn or something. She hates it, so she goes by Jay".
"How do you know all that?" I ask.
"Lucas talks about her. A lot".
Lucas stands up.
"Sorry" he says. "But you have to admit, she's really cute".
"She's very pretty" I agree. "But she's kind of scary when she plays. She's aggressive".
"Details" Lucas hums.

I grab my bag.
"Well, I'm done guys. See ya tomorrow".
I close the door behind me, and walk outside the gym hall. The air is cool, and the fake grass under my feet is wet because of last night's rain. It's not raining now, luckily, though it is very cold. A cold, early Wednesday morning.

On the field, I see a familiar figure waving at me. I grin, and wave back.
"Hello!" she yells. She's jumping a little, her red waves bouncing up and down because of it. I walk towards her.
"Hi Willow!"

We walk towards the bleachers on the side of the field. Alex, Willow's twin sister, is sitting at the very top of the bleachers, and smiles when she sees us.
"How was your second volleyball practice?" she asks when I sit down next to her.
"It was cool!" I say enthusiastically. "Lucas, my friend, smashed a ball for the first time, and this girl Kathryn told me I'm pretty good at it for a beginner".
I smile proudly.
"So, Kathryn huh?" Alex grins.
"Yeah, that's her name. She's pretty good but not very nice to Dean".
"But she's very nice to you?"
Willow rolls her eyes, and punches Alex's arm.
"It doesn't have to mean anything Alex. Everybody is nice to Landon. I mean, it's Landon!"
"Why thank you Willow, I appreciate it" I say.

"How long until our next lesson starts?" I ask.
"Ten minutes, we've got enough time" Alex assures.
Willow stretches her arms, and scans the field.
"Logan should've been here already, maybe he missed the bus..."
Alex gets a big grin on her face.
"Do you miss your boyfriend, Wills?"
"Is that really so strange?" Willow asks. "I'm sure you were excited to see James before..."
Alex's smile disappears, and she crosses her arms.
"This isn't fun, I can't tease you anymore".

Sure enough, a bus stops before the school, and a lot of teens jump out and hurry towards the school building.
"Let's go" Alex decides. "I have economy. That guy freaks out whenever anyone is late".
We get off the bleachers, and walk towards the school entrance.

"Hi".
Logan joins us, looking tired, but relieved.
"Stupid traffic. We were stuck because some guy hit a lantern pole..."
"Hi" Willow says, and she kisses him on the cheek. "I was worried about you".
Logan smiles, and I can see a significant blush forming on his face.
"You should be more worried about the lantern pole, really" he mumbles. Willow giggles, and Alex shakes her head.
"Let's go Logan, economy guy will freak out if we're late" she says.
"Right" he says. "Bye".

They walk away. Me and Willow walk towards history class, talking about all kinds of stuff.
"Yeah, so Logan says Lucy is getting used to his house. She's only lived there since Saturday, so it's not strange it's taking a while for her to be fully integrated" she says, smiling widely. "Some cats take weeks to feel comfortable".
"How's Jowee?" I ask. Her smile grows upon hearing the name of her puppy.
"Oh, he's great! I take him on walks through the park every day, and he keeps making new friends. Yesterday, he met another puppy and they started playing together..."
She chats about her dog for five minutes.
"I should really meet him! Maybe I can go to your house somewhere this week?" I ask.
"That'd be so much fun!" she cheers. We agree that I will come by soon.

At the end of the day, I have English class. I sit next to James, our school president since Friday.
"Mister president" I greet him, sitting down next to him.
"You don't have to call me that every time you see me Landon" James sighs. I grin. "But you're our new president!"
"I know that Landon. But I'm getting a little sick of everyone treating me so differently now".
"Alright. I'll stop".
"Thanks Landon".
"No problem!"

At the end of the afternoon, I meet up with Willow again.
"When are we going to your place?" I ask. "I really need to see a puppy again. It's been a while".
"Friday? I'm done early Friday" Willow suggests. I nod.
"Okay! I'm really excited!"
"You should meet Lucy too" she adds. "Logan says she always sits on his brother's guitar whenever he plays because she likes the vibrations".
"What instrument does he play?" I ask.
"Guitar".
"Oh, cool. You know, I can play the ukulele".

She looks at me, and smiles.
"Take it with you! Maybe Jowee likes it..."
"Nah, I'm probably not allowed. It's not mine, it's my sister's" I say. She sighs.
"Too bad. Well, it'll still be fun".
I grin.
"Yeah it will!"
