Friday afternoon. I'm excited, really excited. I sit next with Dean and Lucas during my break.
"What are you so excited about?" Dean asks, annoyed.
"I'm going to see a puppy today" I smile. Lucas raises an eyebrow.
"Is that a metaphor for something?" he asks.
"What could it possibly be a metaphor for?" I ask.
"Well... Something more exciting than a puppy" Dean says.
"Doesn't exist".

Lucas chuckles, and he shakes his head.
"You're a mystery to me, Landon. To all of us".
"Why?"
"Because you're so happy! It's just a puppy".
I stand up.
"Take that back" I say. "Oh, and also, I'm probably going to see a kitten too".
"Now, that has to be a meta..."
"No! A real life Kitten, and that's better than whatever you imply it to be. And if you'll excuse me, I have to find Willow because I don't know where to meet her after school".

I walk away, and walk outside. I know where Willow will be, the bench by the football field. When I turn the corner, I can already see her sitting on the bench.
"Hi!" she yells when she sees me.
"Hello!" I yell back, joining the small group sitting next to her. Logan is sitting next to Willow and is scrolling through his phone, and Alex is talking to one of my team mates.
"Hi Kathryn" I say.
"Oh hey Landon" she says. "More volley practice next Monday. And tell Dean to start reacting when a ball comes near him".
She walks away.

"I see why you don't like her" Alex sighs. "She's so... Cold. Like she has barely any emotions. I showed her a picture of Logan's cat and she just said 'Oh, cute'. Can you believe that?"
"I don't dislike her" I say. "But I don't like that she's always mean to Dean".
"That rhymes" Willow says.
I turn to her, remembering I came here to talk to her. "Oh! Right. Willow, where do I need to meet you after school?"
"The bus stop" she says.
"Okay! I'll see you there".
The bell rings.
"Bye guys!" I say.
"Bye!" Alex says.
"See you after school!" Willow says.
"Hmmhmm" Logan says.

After my last class, I walk towards the bus stop happily. I'm so excited, I'm going to hang out with one of my best friends and her puppy! Today is going to be so much fun.

I already spot Willow in the distance. She's talking to Logan, holding both his hands.
"Hi" I say, a little awkward, when I join them under the glass roof of the bus stop.
"Hi Landon!" Willow says, and she quickly lets go of Logan's hands. "How was your last hour?"
"It was fine" I sigh. "But the teacher, miss Mary, kept yelling at me because I didn't understand the tasks".
"Aw, that's rude!" she says. I shrug.
"She was kind of right I guess".

In the distance, I can see a bus driving towards us.
"Is that our bus?" I ask.
"Yeah" Logan says.
It pulls up in front of us, and we get in.
"So, what exactly are you going to do?" Logan asks.
"We're just going to play with Jowee I think. We could take him to the park" Willow says. "You can come with us if you want?"
"Hm" Logan says. "I've got... Stuff..."
"You know you can just say it if you don't feel like hanging out".
"Right, I know. Sorry".
The bus drives its route, and eventually we arrive at the central station.

"We have to take that one" Willow says, looking at the bus schedule. "And Logan that one".
Logan's bus already stands behind us, so he walks towards it.
"Wait!" Willow says, and she runs after him. "Don't forget to ask your brother about that thing..."
Logan rolls his eyes.
"Right, I won't forget. Bye".
He presses a quick kiss on her lips, and gets in the bus.

A while later, we get out of her bus in front of Willow's house. She rings the doorbell of her house, and we get inside. I'm instantly greeted by a small creature jumping on my shoes.
"Jowee! No!" Willow says, dropping her bag on the floor and picking the small puppy up.
"Sorry about that, he loves to jump on shoes. He should really stop that".

We walk into the living room. She holds Jowee close to her chest, and presses a small kiss on his head.
"He's such a little idiot. I love him".
"Just like me!" I say excitedly. Willow looks at me, and laughs.
"Aw, don't say that Landon. You're not an idiot".
"I beg to differ".
Alex has come into the living room.
"And I mean that in the best way possible".
I laugh. "That's okay. I already know".

It's already evening when I get home. I ring the doorbell, and wait in front of the front door. A few seconds later, the door opens.
"Landon!"
My little sister hugs me. I hug her back, laughing softly.
"Hi Emma" I say. "How was your day?"
She lets go of me and smiles.
"It was fun! I made a new friend, her name is Amelia..."
She talks about her day at school. I listen attentively, and give her advice about her homework. She's just twelve years old, but sometimes says things I can barely understand. She's definitely the smart one in the family.

I don't really mind though. She's the smart one, I'm the athletic, more social one. And we make a pretty good team.
"Did you play any ukulele today?" I ask. She shakes her head.
"No, I'm out of songs to play. You can play tonight if you wanna".
I smile, and run upstairs to get the instrument. I play a simple melody. I like playing ukulele. It sounds happy.

After a while of playing, my fingers hurt. I put the ukulele back in the box, and put it up on the shelve. I love playing, though I'd like to try something more serious. Maybe I could start playing guitar?
