"She's beautiful".
I look at Lucas, and feel a small sting in my stomach. He's staring at Jay, with a longing look in his eyes. Dean rolls his eyes, and looks at me.
"So what's going on with you?" he asks.
"Not much" I say. "Everything is going great with Owen, so... Yeah".
We've been officially dating for two weeks now, and it's starting to feel more and more normal. We still have movie night every Friday, and we've moved on to watching the Harry Potter movies now.

All my friends know about it now, and Owen said he told all his friends too. Everyone took it well. Kathryn was a bit annoyed, and murmured something about romance being a distraction. I would disagree with her, but Lucas has been playing worse and worse lately. That in turn made me feel worse and worse about still not telling Lucas that Jay is a lesbian. I just don't want to break his heart.

"Dean can I talk to you?" I ask, a little nervous. Lucas looks up, and scoffs.
"Why not with me?" he asks. "Am I less important?"
"No, I just... You'll find out later, okay. I just need his advice on something".
After a while of convincing, he finally lets me talk to Dean in private. We walk a bit further down the field, until we can't see Lucas anymore. He's probably staring at Jay again anyway.

"Jay's a lesbian" I say.
Dean frowns. "What?"
"Jay is a lesbian. She told me. How do I tell Lucas?" I ask him. His eyes widen a little bit, and he gets a strange expression on his face.
"When did she tell you?" he asks.
"When I talked to her about Owen. She said I could tell Lucas so he stops pining over her, but I don't know how to..."
"Please tell him" Dean interrupts me. "As soon as possible".
"What?"
"Right now" he says, before he turns on his heels and starts walking towards Lucas.

"Wait!" I say, and I grab his arm. "You can't just say it like that, you have to bring it gently".
He sighs, and nods.
"Why are you in such a hurry anyway?" I ask. He looks at the grass, and sighs.
"It's stupid" he says.
"No, tell me" I insist. "Please?"
He bites his bottom lip, and stuffs his hands in his pockets.
"I just... I used to like hanging out with him, but suddenly he got all obsessed with Jay and that was all he'd ever talk or think about" he explains. "So I really hope this will finally make him stop obsessing over her and just become fun again".

He nods shortly, as though he's confirming his own statement, before looking back up at me.
"Alright" I say, and I smile. "Let's go tell him".
We walk towards Lucas, who looks up with an annoyed facial expression.
"Are you done with your little secret meeting?" he asks. I nervously shift my eyes between Lucas and Dean, feeling a weird tension I don't feel often.

"Jay's a lesbian" Dean says, almost sounding a little smug. "Landon found out a while ago, we thought we needed to tell you".
Lucas stares at Dean, his mouth slightly open, and his eyes wide. He doesn't say anything for a good five minutes, before a quiet "What?" comes from his mouth.
Dean and I explain everything. Lucas closes his mouth, but keeps that same, heartbroken look in his eyes. At the end, Dean sighs, and sits down next to him.
"Do you need some time to mourn?" he asks. Lucas nods, and Dean puts his arm around Lucas's shoulder.
"He needs some time" Dean says, as Lucas pouts and rests his head on Dean's shoulder.
"That's okay" I say. "Good luck".
I turn around, and walk away. I'll just leave them be for a while.

At the end of the school day, I feel strangely excited. I don't know why, it's a normal school day. Maybe it's because of Owen. Thinking about Owen always makes me happy. Willow says it's because I'm just new to the relationship, but we've been together for two weeks already and it still feels the exact same as it did when he said he wanted to be my boyfriend. Exhilarating, but calming at the same time. I'm happy to see him, but it's also what keeps me going through hard times. It used to be my naive, positive attitude that kept me happy, but over the past few weeks I've realised life isn't always that easy, and it's okay to be sad every once in a while.

I walk out through the school doors, and scan the cars parked in front of school. It doesn't take me long to spot Owen's car. I grin, as I walk toward him.
"Hi!" I say, when he gets out of the car.
"Hey babe" he says, and he gives me a quick kiss on my lips. "How was school?"
"Well, I told my friend the supposed love of his life is a lesbian, and I answered a question right during maths class" I say. He laughs, and nods.
"Okay, sounds... Interesting. Hey, Logan just had his last period too, right?"
I nod.
"He's probably at the bus stop, or he's talking to Willow or something" I say.
"Great!" Owen claps his hands. "I need to tell him something. You too, by the way".
I smile, and curiously bounce up and down a little. He smiles, grabs my hand, and pulls me along with him.

We walk to the bus stop. I can't help but smile while looking at our hands. We don't go out in public very often, except if he picks me up from school and when we go out to get ice cream. That's why I appreciate little moments like these.
"Logan!" Owen yells, with a grin. Logan, who's standing underneath the bus stop, looks up. His expression changes to utter annoyance when he sees his brother.

I see he's talking to James, our school president. He's got a boyfriend now, Drew Maines. He's also on the football team, he was a pretty nice guy, even if he was nervous a lot of the time.
"Hi James" I say, with a big smile. I haven't talked to him in a while.
"Hey Landon" James says, smiling back at me. Then he turns back to Logan.
"Who's this?"
Logan sighs, and looks up at Owen.
"My brother Owen" he says.
"Oh, I've heard a lot about Owen" James says, with a grin.
Owen grins back, and then turns to Logan.

"I just wanted to tell you, and also Landon, and now also this guy..."
"It's James" I say.
"Oh, well, now also James, that I have decided to apply to college".
Logan's eyes widen ever so slightly, but he hides his surprise very well.
"Took you long enough" he says.

"You did?" I ask. Owen nods proudly.
"Yeah, it's a college in town, so I won't have to move away. I don't know if I'll get in, but it's a first step".
He looks at Logan again.
"I just wanted to tell you because you've been bugging me about it forever" he says.
"Well... I'm proud of you" Logan says, reluctantly, though I can tell he really means it. Owen's smile widens, and then he looks back at me.

"Let's go" he says, and he takes my hand again and pulls me along to his car.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"What do you think?"
I smile excitedly. "Ice cream?" I ask.
He grins, and nods.
"Of course, that's our thing".
