I had thought and thought about what would happen but seeing her wasentirely different then I could ever had thought. What it meant tosee her, it was like the very thing keeping him alive was no longermy heart beating but was her.

It had happened once before, when I held Theodore in my arms when Ifinally came from the adrenaline and fear of the destruction that haddestroyed my planet. When I finally really realized who I was holdingand how big this was, I took on him not just as my charge but as myson. He would know of and know his parents, I would give every storyI had of them for him.

It was like he was making one of my hearts beat now instead of justmy body and now that I found her my other heart was beating for her.It was time, it was the time I had been waiting my entire life for, something that my parents had been waiting over half their life for, something that my little sisters had grown up hearing of an dreamingof it for me as well as themselves.

They all died before it could ever happen.

Reaching back to the top of the strange structure I smiled takingTheodore from Klarissa who had been watching him for me. "James?"She questioned noticing the almost stiff way I moved around and shefrowned and waved over her mate.

"James what's wr-oh!" Damien cut off with a grin and chuckled."Someone found their mate?" He asked with a good humored chuckle.I looked over to him and he grinned and smiled, "I am so happy foryou James." He grinned and Klarissa gave a happy little giggle asthe words quickly spread, a few flew to the other structures to letthe others know. A light roar came as everyone got the news but hadto be careful that the others didn't hear. That the earthlings didn'thear.

They had come to learn their timetable. It was actually prettysimilar to theirs but not exact. There would be most days they'd comein before the sun had even risen, some walking, some by a strangenoise making structures. They were much smaller then any structuresmeant for living but the earthlings could still climb into them. Butit was shorter then the average earthling was but much larger withseats. There was a lot of metal in the front but little in the backand it moved.

After the sun had set they would head back away every day. But everyfew days there would be two days that they would not be there untilafter the sun was already up in the sky.

"What will you do as far as her understanding our ways James?"Lenore asked and I shook my head and sighed.

"I know that this will be a lot for her to take in but I will bethere with her for it all." I assured her and she smiled. It was abittersweet one but I knew that she was doing her best to deal withthe loss of her mate. I couldn't imagine what she was going throughand honestly I didn't want to. My heart went out to her but thethought of not having my own beloved mate, especially now that I'vefound her, was too much.

"Just remember possibly she has no idea that we exist. She mightnot be like us, you will have to win her heart."

"Win her heart?" The words made sense but not when I thoughtabout them all together it didn't make sense.

"James...I'm sorry but you must know...these earthlings have no wayof knowing who their mate is by sight...she might not know who youare." She explained and I felt like icy water had been thrown onme. I shook my head and took several deep breaths, I would have had afull on freak out if it wasn't for hearing Theodore cooing andcrawling over to me, his small wings fluttering wanting to fly and Icouldn't help but smile.

A quick glance at her I saw that I had luckily covered my facialexpressions. Or she was kind enough to pretend not to notice. Ipicked up Theodore holding him out so that his wings could stretchand flutter even though they were far too weak to lift him up yet.

"It will have to be one day at a time." I finally said glancingback over at her and she sighed but then after a while gave a smileand that confused me a bit why she was smiling. However we had beenfriends for most of our lives, I knew that she wouldn't smile unlessshe thought of something. My thought was that maybe she had thoughtof something that could get her to realize who I was to her. Who wewere.

"Once she has a chance to see she will come around and that meansin a way you will experience finding your mate twice." She gave thegrin and I was just more confused at her.

"You can not think I have two mates?" I asked wondering if shewas becoming insane. It wasn't a common thing when someone lost theirmate but usually most people killed themselves when they lost theirmate. Maybe she would have but extenuating circumstances, like us alltrying to find a place to live, had stopped her?

"No of course not," that relaxed me some, "but when you findher she will not know that you two are mates, she won't have beenraised with stories of the day you two would find each other. Thatmeans you will have to show her the love that you already feel forher. That's the first time. But when she comes to realize that sheloves you-because believe me she does my friend-but she just doesn'tknow it yet. So when she realizes that she loves you it will be likefinding her a second time." She assured and I smiled a bit andpulled her into a hug, Theodore giggling as she relaxed from thestock still way she had from the sudden hug.

"Thank you Lenore." I thanked her and she gave a grin and movedto take Theodore from my arms and I allowed her.

"Go and prepare for the ritual. I'll watch Theo for you." Sheassured and I grinned and spread my wings slipping off the top of thetop of the structure flying quickly so the humans wouldn't see me. Itwould be easier during the night where I would blend better but I hadthings to prepare. Besides the humans never looked up anyway.
