"James," I start awake grasping tighter looking underneath mywings seeing my mate fast asleep clutching Theodore to her chest.

Safe. They are safe.

Looking back up I see Lenore watching me curiously her wings flappingslightly and I blink as she looks different "did you cut yourhair?" She nodded setting herself down to stand on one of thebranches.

"Yes, I think it will be easier to see with all of these branchesand leaves," that was true, our homes back on our planet weretaller and a deep purple with few of these hanging leaves at the veryend, an entire tree would barely have as many as one brance here had.As well as there were so many more branches than we normally wouldhave, we would have to get used to it."We have to start a meeting,we must know how to care for our new home James."

"Konrad." I corrected and she looked shocked before sighing.

"Oh...is...is it, everything okay?" She asked and I noddedchecking again, my flock seems just fine, sleeping soundly. I felt adeep pride fill my chest, expanding it perfectly. Of course mydarling mate was just worried, so much had changed for her so fast, but she loved me. She would not have been able to sleep so soundly inmy arms if she did not trust and love me, she was just confused andscared. Of course I had to stop her from doing anything dangerous butperhaps I needed to listen to James a bit as well.

"Yes, everything is fine." I agreed pressing my lips to herforehead and she groaned, mumbling as her pretty (eye color) pools inthose white seas of her eyes. I missed them as she slept, but shelooked so lovely when she was so relaxed. "Good morning love," Icooed brushing some of her (hair color) locks behind the shell of herear. She hummed happily before freezing seeming to come into herselfand look up at me.

I didn't want to fight right now, I just wanted to hold my mate andour hatchling in my arms and relax for a while, but I knew wecouldn't do that. "We must get up I suppose," I stood allowing mywings to stretch out helping her up as she held Theodore who startedsquirming waking up. "How late did I allow us to sleep?" I askedLenore suddenly feeling guilty, I should be up before my murmeration,at the moment I am the leader and I should be setting everything torights first.

"Not that late Konrad, and we all know you helped us make all thehomes before you made your own by yourself, you needed rest. I'msorry that we have to wake you up as is, but you won't be able tosleep tonight, plus we really need a plan."

"Of course, do not apologize Lenore." I assured her, lifting mymate up into my arms and she yelped but did not squirm as I walkedover to follow Lenore and allowed my wings to spread and I took astep off the branch. I noticed when I did so she tensed up butrelaxed after a moment or two as my wings flapped holding the threeof us up easily. I was young and strong, a hunter had to be strongand fast, my wings could easily hold her and our hatchling up.

Flying over there were soft whispering and I sighed before lookingover them, they all fell silent as I got closer and closer to them."Damien, report?" I called and he moved foreword, handingRosemary to Klarissa. He pecked her cheek before moving over to becloser to me, I always found that strange even when seeing my ownparents do it, but now with her in my arms I understood, to be even afew wingspans from her I would want to press a lip to her forehead.
