"What happened?" I growled out and Karen, seeming to get braver, glared at my Name and she whimpered slightly starting to hum and cooto Theodore, obviously trying to calm the hatchling.

"Ask her." She gave a snide response glaring at the lovely (skintone) form of my mate, but my growl quickly cut her off and shelooked at me with wide eyes.

"What did you say?" I growl moving to cut the view of my mate andhatchling away from Karen's hateful gaze. We were starting to gain acrowd but I couldn't care less about that.

"She does nothing to help the group! Won't even speak to us!Earthlings attacked our hatchlings!" She screamed and I let out myown screech.

"Name had nothing to do with that." I glared, "she can'tunderstand what we say but she has been nothing but soft and gentlewith Theo." I growled out, "you attacked your leader-consort."Her face went pale as she was reminded of the position that Nameheld.

"What's going on here?" I turned to see Stephan and glared overat Karen who was still being held back as best as they could byLeonardo.

"Stephan, please detain Karen." I growled out and she trieduselessly flapping her wings, Leonardo was able to hold her steady-bythe thinnest margin but still held her until Stephan was able to geta better grip on her. "Leonardo, bind her wings." I heard severalgasps but it was Christine who spoke up.

"Do it Leo," she said before he could anything. I knew thesiblings could argue a lot but they did care for each other, something I couldn't help but think that was how my own sisters wouldbe if fate would have been so kind to allow them to live. Foreverthey would be the brother worshiping brood.

Leo sighed before flying off to hurry to where some of the ropes wehad managed to procure was and I looked up seeing some otherswatching. "We are about to start our first trial. Get everyone."The maiden, just one or two rotations from her Changing, nodded at meand flew away and I turned to Karen and looked around and saw Lenore. She was the only one who told me exactly what had happened and so Irelied on her to tell me now.

"Lenore, what happened?"

"I was watching over Name, she was trying to show me things withher hands. I think she was trying to talk to me through her handssince she can't speak normally. I couldn't understand what she wasgoing on about but still I found myself smiling indulgently thinkingof Name and how adorable she was.

"She was holding Theo, I was able to show her how to hold him tolet the hatchling exercise his wings." Lenore said and I could feelthe slightest twinge, hatchlings needed to stretch and exercise theirwings, so that they would be strong enough to take Swift when theyare Nestlings. I can feel James already drowning in the guilt that wehaven't been able to give him as much exercise and stretching of hiswings as he should. I knew that even before I existed that James didthe best he could have but traveling so far had taken a backseat tomaking sure everyone was safe. I would allow myself to drown in theguilt to, but I could also feel the pride of how amazing my Name was.She was just like a mother, taking care of Theodore like any mother, she might have to be shown things but then her natural instincts tookon and she cared for him. I felt slightly jealous that Lenore got tosee this but knew it was best for both Name and Theodore and thattook precedent.
