I was in awe as I saw the trees I had been told of, they were big, asthe scouts had said, but to see just how they were was shocking tome. They were bigger than many of the hard white and gray buildingsshe lives in. Once lived in.

The Beast, Konrad as he calls himself, calms down at theamendment to my last thought, no longer rattling around in my brain.

Pulling my mate closer I flew up beating my wings harder to let theentire murmuration know that I required their attention. It was scantminutes before they all were circling me, we could barely all fitbetween the branches and leaves of the trees, easily ten times thesize of our homes but we could have several families in one tree ifwe wished, or go to trees that are not so far away. Still we need tostay away from the humans until we are sure of them.

"Everyone! Partner up, find at least two others if you are byyourself, if you're mated find another mated couple, keep yourhatchlings close. These earthlings don't know we are here, but wewill do this until we get used to it. We can start expanding oncewe've understood where we are living and what we can eat." Iassured them and they all looked around at each other and I relaxed, looking down at my (brunette/blonde/etc) love I saw she was clutchingTheodore against her chest, stroking his short, wispy sunny hair asshe looked along the gathering with wide (eye color) eyes.

I could feel a stab of jealousy, but I knew it came from Konrad. Irefused to give into it, into him, our mating was new, and she wasafraid, surrounded by strangers in a place she was not home in. Shehad no wings and I was not her family, I was holding her so far up,she could be hurt so easily...

I pulled her a bit closer, cooing to her as Damian looked at me,handing Rosemary over to Klarissa before slowly flying over to me,still keeping a respectful distance. "K...Konrad?"

"James." I corrected and sighed looking down, "I will try tocontrol him, control it, but I can't promise, please all take care."He nodded and glided back to his mate and daughter. "Everyone," Inow speak to everyone again, even if what I had said to Damian hadn'tbeen private, "please partner up. At least three single people, ortwo couples per tree. If everything goes well we will soon be back tohow we were before." I promised as the idea of multiple familiesstaying together is not something we normally would do.

I swept around making sure everything was going well. We all gotalong with what we are going through but now that we are in a singleplace we will relax enough that personalities might not get alongwell like we hope. I do not know if they will continue wanting me tobe the leader but they probably will, if not I will happily step downas long as I can be sure that the one taking my place will do aamazing job, but so far still I am the best for the job.

I needn't have worried, the most I had to worry about is one of themated pair who escaped with not only each other but their young. Itwas actually surprising that Christine and Rosaline had escaped atall. The girls had decided to take their younglings-a rare pair oftwins, Christine having birthed two eggs instead of one, they namedAurora and Luna, they had taken them to teach them to fly and it waseasier to outside of our planet's atmosphere, they had also taken onthe last child from a couple who had too many young already, takingon little Orion when he was freshly birthed and still in his egg, they had one more on the way Rosaline having an egg of her own thathad yet to hatch. Since they needed both to help the girls fly theyhad enlisted Christine's brother Leonardo with them to hold Orion andfly around with him and Rosaline had an Egg Carrier for the egg thathad not hatched, she and Christine took turns carrying the egg whilebetween them and Leonardo they were able to carry all of the young.Leonardo was one of the few who hadn't felt the emptiness that meanthis mate was not dead, but at the same time he hadn't looked alongour murmuration because he was focused more on being an uncle andbrother to both women, as he viewed Rosaline as his sister despiteher not being related to him.
