I shook out my left wing before grinning at Theodore who grinned backat me. He was close to becoming closer and closer to being aNestling, and had gotten better at his swift. He now could hover upto my chest and loved to swift about our home. Soon enough I wouldhave to teach him to fly more. Soon we could go on a family flightand with him flying and Name in my arms. He was in that awkward stagewhere he was a bit too old to be a Hatchling but too young to be aNestling. The first true Transition.
It freaked Name out at first, when Theodore first started to swift onhis own, but she had gotten used to it. She told me that it had to beclose to a year together, the leaves had changed from the lush greento bright reds, oranges, and yellows, until finally turning a muddybrown-like the ones on the ground-before they, to, fell. Many Younghad fun making a game of chasing the falling leaves and trying tocatch them before they fell. Some Fledgings even took on running thegame, catching the leaves faster than the young could and begandropping them, making sure that everyone had a chance to catch them, the Nestlings and Younglings loved to play, some Fledglings or olderYounglings would hold the Hatchlings to let them play as well. Thenthere came the cold white stuff she called 'snow'. The wind rippedthrough us, there was not anything that we had known but Name didn'tsee anything different about it. We had to go far away to get in toget the outfits and such that she told us were warm. I thank ourfortune cherubs that Name had started to be able to understand whatwe did. I didn't understand how but she did, and I was starting tounderstand what she was saying at the same time. Now the cold whitewas gone, and flowers sprouted out of the ground going from one daybe freezing cold and the next day hot, but now it was hot like it wasbefore.
"Daddy!" Theodore called out to me and I smiled opening myarms and he flapped his wings even harder to get to me and fell intomy arms. I smiled catching the word for father that Name had taughthim. She had started to understand what we were saying, and I in turnhave begun to understand her. Some still complained that theycouldn't understand her but those who worked closely with me havebegun to and the Young as well understood her easily, she has gotteneasier around me, not minding me touching her or holding her.
I had kissed her once, but she pulled away and I didn't try again, Iwouldn't ever do that if she didn't want me to. She didn't mind if Ipressed my lips to her face as long as it wasn't her lips. It wasenough, I had her in my arms, wrapped up safe in my wings everynight.
"How are you my little star?" I asked and he giggled and smiledlooking around.
"Where is mommy?"
"Your mom is off talking to some of the others; Lenore, Alyssa,Jason, and Arno." I explained and he looked curiously and Icontinued to explain, I wish I could speak her language but ourmouths were not able to twist to make the sounds she spoke and thesame was true to her for our language. But at least we finally couldunderstand each other.
Now Name had, without even knowing it, become the Mate of the Leader. She was the glue that held the murmuration together. Now that we wereused to our new home, used to how to move without alerting theearthlings and have got used to our new home.
I had always thought that once we were used to our home that someoneelse would step up and want to become the new leader but everyoneseemed to be happy enough to leave me to stay as the leader. I hadthought eventually that I would go back to being a hunter but as itlooked I would remain the leader, which I did not mind. It wasn'tsomething I wanted but if I was the one who the murmuration wantedthan I would be it.
"James? Theo?" Name called and I turned smiling to seeAlyssa having helped Name down. The murmuration absolutely adoredName, she genuinely cared about the murmuration and she cared aboutwhat they had to say. Sure it was frustrating at first trying tounderstand each other but the reason the groups followed her was notonly did they enjoy getting to know her more and more and finding outabout all she knew of the different earthlings and the cultures shetalked about but also they would tell those who didn't understand herwhat she said.
"Mommy!" Theodore let out a happy squeal and pushed off ofmy swift to Name who giggled opening her arms and wrapping themaround him and cooing.
"Hello baby~" she hummed saying goodbye to Alyssa one lasttime before smiling to see me and there was a warm look in her (eyecolor) eyes that I hadn't seen before. It was a bit similar to howshe looked at Theodore but not quiet like that. "James?"
And Konrad took over.
Though my name is Konrad I have agreed to just be called James, theycould all call me James it was a part of who I am and I don't mindand instead I will just enjoy being in her presence. I don't exactlyknow what that warmth swirling in her (light/medium/dark) eyes meansbut I like it and I want her to look at me like that.
She gets close and pressed tight to my chest and my wings lightlywrap around her, not touching her but showing her and anyone whowould be around if it was anyone besides her and Theodore they wouldget the clear message that they were mine and I would die to protectthem. I was strong. None but death themselves could take them fromme, and even then not forever.
She reached up to touch my face in a way I wasn't expecting and thenher (skin tone) hand was digging into my shining hair pulling me downand her lips pressed against mine. I didn't question it, I didn'tcare to question it, my wings wrapped tighter on her pulling hertighter to me holding her front pressed against mine as I took herlips to mine fully.
"James," she let out a sound that was almost a moan. Sheall but melted against me, it was not part of my own mating ritualbut I could tell it was part of hers. Surely this meant she wasfinally mine. I heard the fuss that James was kicking up.
Fine. Ours.
She is moaning his name, she is ours. We didn't pull away untilTheodore started to be fussy, she pulled away from me but still had abig smile and didn't pull away from me, instead turning so she couldrelax her full weight on me, allowing me to hold her up and againstme as she hushed our adopted Hatchling.
She had accepted me, truly and fully.
I really liked this chapter, this is a good six months time skip, there is not anything to really say about that since all that timeReader-chan and James/Konrad's relationship is the same, so this isbasically a year after he's taken her. This is also technically thelast chapter, but there is an Epilogue coming up. I hope you like it,I like it but it is almost a bittersweet like.
