Lucifer goes though these episodes every once in a while where his rage and evil completely consumes him and he goes out of control killing anything he sees, human, Angel, demon, it really doesn't matter to him. He feels his mental starting to sip and decides it's too dangerous for him to stay around Sam. He tries to leave but somehow they get trapped together and his instincts are slowly taking over. Right before he goes into this madness Sam kisses him and in a way, puts the key back in the lock.

I could tell something was bothering Lucifer, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. He seemed off and that's saying a lot when it comes to him.
