Chapter 5

Halie’s POV

“Get out of my way!” Dylan said pushing me into the maths classroom. I turned around and glared at him but he was busy checking if his hair looked okay in the window. I scoffed and he turned to look at me. Expecting me to move.  I know he wasn’t going to apologize for what happened yesterday. He was going to continue ruining my life. Dylan walked into the classroom and sat at the back and I looked at him in suspicion.

“Are you just going to stand there staring at my gorgeous face or are you going to sit down.”

“Shut your mouth Dylan, I’ve heard enough from you yesterday. I’d love to see things from your point of view but I can’t seem to get my head that far up my ass.” I say stepping towards a seat that’s the furthest away from him.

“Hey, Jaden.”  I said. He smiled at me then looked at Dylan, surprised that I was sticking up for myself. Dylan narrowed his eyes at me and he looked like he was about to fire at me but then Ariana and Elena walked in. Elena saw me and she waved at me. I turned away choosing to ignore her. Two can play this game.

Every lesson today has dragged on forever. I’m so happy its Lunch, one more lesson to go after this. I was walking down the hallway when someone grabbed my arm and pulled me into the store room. I looked up to see Dylan. OH FOR **** SAKE. Why does my life just keep getting worse by the minute.

“Hey, Halie, think you was smart in lesson today didn’t you?”

“Why yes, and I’m pretty proud of that if I must say so myself.” I said smiling at him, but inside I was scared.

He moved closer towards me as I moved further back until I hit the wall. His face was inches away from mine and I don’t know what he was thinking. I could practically hear my heartbeat rise and I wasn’t sure if he could sense I was scared because he started smiling. I pushed him off me but he grabbed me and held me against the wall.

“Dylan, w-why are you doing this to me. I did nothing to you.”

“Because you deserve it you bitch. You have no life Halie. You ruin everything maybe that’s why NO ONE likes you. Even Your only friend Elena left you for someone a lot prettier and a lot better than you.” He said as he pushed me so I slammed against the wall really hard. I felt a sudden pain on my back and felt a tear slide down my cheek. He turned around and left leaving me by myself.

-Later that day-

I was in my room listening to music. A lot of memories from when I was little came back to me. I remember how it used to be when Dylan, Mason and I were all best friends. Mason might be my brother but we have been close since forever and I can trust him more than anyone. He is more of a best friend than he is a brother but he’s still protective over me. I remember the days we used to play football (its football not soccer) and always hang around with each other. I really used to like Dylan. I really did. In fact I always liked him more than a friend. But I suppose he never felt the same way about me or else he would have said so. I never really gave up on him up until now. Sure I started dating this other guy but it didn’t last long because I wasn’t happy with him and I realised that since I started dating him me and Dylan stopped talking as much as we used to. And now? I guess I could consider him as a bully. I don’t know how it all changed. I just wish I could turn back time. It’s hard to let go of my feelings for him considering all he does is hate me. But it’s really hard to get rid of true feelings because they don’t just go away. But I guess at the moment I honestly hate him more than everything. He’s ruined my life and he claims that I ruined his life? I wasn’t even angry at him. I just want everything to go back to the way it was. With Elena. With Dylan. With everyone. Even With my Dad.

I was so lost in thought that I didn’t realise that my mum came in and sat next to me.

“Hey honey. Are you okay? You’ve been in here ever since you got home and you haven’t even eaten anything.” She said to me sounding concerned. I instantly hugged her just wanting to feel comfortable for once.

“Well, If it makes you feel any better we are playing superman downstairs we know how much you like that movie so want to come downstairs we can have some family time.” She said attempting to cheer me up. Maybe that’s what I needed. To surround myself with people that actually care about me, and spending time with mum and Mason was the best thing for me at the moment. I agreed and made my way downstairs to see Mason pigging out with every sort of sweets you could name.  I chuckled and sat next to him and started to watch Man of steel. Halfway through the movie I felt myself drifting to sleep.

-Next day-

I woke up really early today considering it’s a school morning and I never wake up early on weekdays. I was surprisingly in a really good mood today and I’m not going to let anything ruin that. Plus it’s a Friday. Yay! I got dressed putting on a skirt and a top. Mason has free periods all day today so I will be driving myself to school, but I decided to walk instead. I left earlier than usual making sure I have enough time to walk there and still arrive on time.  I plugged my earphones into my phone and listened to Paramore.  I didn’t even notice that I reached school. Time goes by fast when you’re zoned out.

I made my way to my first class of the day. Oh yay. As I walked there I heard my name being called by a high pitched annoying voice. I turned to see Ariana with her 2 pets Elena and Melisa . Shocking! I rolled my eyes not wanting to start a conversation with them. Do they really need to exist.

“Hey boo, I really like your outfit.” Ariana claimed in the most sarcastic way possible.

“Too bad I don’t like yours.” I replied instantly rolling my eyes. Her mouth went in an O shape as did Elena’s and Melisa’s. I turned and walked away. Like I said I’m not letting useless people spoil my mood today.

The school day went by pretty fast and it was a decent day. I walked towards my locker and opened it as I waved goodbye to Jaden. I opened my locker to find a note. It was  red sticky note. I wonder what it was.

“Hey Halie,

 I’ve been seeing you around a lot and I really really like you. This is a very weird thing for me to do. Also I don’t believe anything anyone says about you. I think you’re beautiful and an amazing person.

From ------ xx “

It didn’t have any name. But it made me smile. I don’t know who put it in there but I don’t really care at the moment. Whoever it is, they made my day better. I smiled and walked out of school. Maybe life isn’t that unfair.
