*Y/n POV*

"Wait, where are we going now?"

I leaned against the fallen tree we had set up camp near, listening to my son as he explained his plan.

"Vacuo," Darkrai repeated, "I think there's something there we should take a look at."

"What is it, exactly, that we're going to see?"

"A connection to home."

"Alright," I said, standing up, "Let's go tell everyone so we can get packed up."

"No, it's just you and me," He said, stopping me, "I don't want to hold up our search for Salem and Cyrus. This could still be a wild goose chase."

"We still have to tell them," I interjected, "Yang was pissed the f*ck off the last time we just up and disappeared, and I'm not going through that again."

"Don't worry about that," He explained, "Neo knows whats going on. I've told her to explain where we're going."

"Wow, you thought of everything," I mused, "Fine, let's call up your pilot friend."

Darkrai pulled out his phone and began to talk with the pilot and I packed up my stuff. As I did, I heard a twig snap behind me, and whipped around. Zekrom was walking up behind us, rubbing sleep out of his eyes.

"What're you two doing up?"

"I could ask you the same thing," I said, "What's wrong?"

"I heard you guys talking," He said, "I'm coming with."

"No your not," Darkrai said, "Your staying here to help lead everyone."

"That wasn't a question," Zekrom said roughly, "You guys aren't the only ones from the other world. I'm coming with."

"But-"

"Darkrai," I interrupted, "There's no point in arguing."

He glared at both of us and shrugged, before walking back to camp to get his stuff. Zekrom looked at me, and I gave a look of boredom.

"Thanks, Y/n."

"Don't slow us down, kid," I said, "If you fall behind with us, you stay behind."

"...Thanks, Y/n."

"You know kid, you're a lot quieter than your sister."

"Hmm."

"You also tend to think about things more," I observed, "You're a lot less impulsive."

"That's one of her problems," He responded, "She jumps in head first without thinking. It's how we ended up here."

"I never said it was a problem," I said, "It's how you got here, right? And if you guys weren't here, we might not have beat Cinder and Grimm that time."

"Interesting way to put it," He said, "I haven't thought like that since..."

"Since when?"

"Since... before Reshiram and I started our fight all those years ago."

I sighed, feeling the heavy hand of symbolism crush me into the dirt and stomp me with it's heel.

"It's a good thing you guys found peace then," I nodded to myself, "Or else you would've..."

"Would've what?" He asked.

"Just...listen kid," I sighed, "There are worse ways you and your sister could've ended up."

"Like you and your sister."

"Ouch, blunt as hell," I observed, "But yeah. You could've been like us."

"Do you still think about all that Y/n?"

"Everyday of my waking life, kid. Every day."
