*Stella's P.O.V*

Kalie slowly slides the car door open, sunlight making its way to brighten every inch of this dark van. Grabbing my jacket, I pushed myself and Kalie out of this van.

"Hey," she said, swatting my hands away from her shoulder, "I can move myself, you know."

"Not fast enough," I bite back, pushing her forward.

"What is it with you and carnivals anyway?" She asks once we were out of the car.  I walk over to the line of people buying their tickets to get in and turn to her, "What do you mean?"

"I mean you're obsessed with carnivals." She says, drawing out the word obsessed.

"I am not obsessed," I say defensively, "I just like carnivals...a lot."

"Like? Try love," she laughs, looking at me, "whenever someone even mentions the word carnival, you act like you were offered a million dollars."

"Do not," I say, even though I knew she was telling the truth.  She gives me a 'you're not fooling anyone' look and I sigh.

"All right, I do," I admit.

"I know," she laughs and pats my back.

I glare at her and she smirks, "But I can't help it, all right," I say truthfully, "it reminds me of better days."

"Better days?" She asks, confused.

"Yeah, days of when I was younger.  It brings back happy memories of how simple and peaceful the world used to be.  Memories that feel like a lifetime ago," I sigh. Kalie nods her head, eyebrows scrunched in concentration as she processes every single word I was saying.  "I guess what I'm trying to say is it gives me hope. Makes me think, even for a slight second, that world could be as it used to be, even if isn't possible anymore."

"Wow," she says, "All that from going to a carnival?"

I laugh and nod, "Yes." She laughs too and shakes her head.

Once we got our tickets, we happily walked through the gates.  Instantly, the sweet smell of funnel cake filled my nose. I hummed in satisfaction.

"What should we do first?" mum asked, having no clue as there were a million things to do here. Where do we start first?

"Umm how abo-"

"That!" Jewels cuts me off, pointing at the biggest roller coaster known to man.

"Um," I say nervously, "Why don't we try something less dangerous, like the merry-go-round?"

"That sounds like fun," Lily jumped in excitement, "let's do that."

"See," I say pointing to Lily, "She wants to do it, so its settled." I nod and quickly walk way from Jewels in attempt to avoid the conversation right before she grabbed the back of my top and pulled me back.  "Oh no you don't."

I groan, "I don't want to go on that. I want to live to see my next birthday."

"Stop being so dramatic miss 'I love the carnival," she turns me around and I glare at her, "Nothing bad is going to happen if you ride a roller coaster."

I scoff, "Final Destination 2 begs to differ."

"That was a movie."

"A movie that could happen." I say truthfully.  Seriously, those events could happen, you never know.  She huffs, "You're going on."

"No, I'm not," I stand my ground. I'm older than her, she can't make me do anything.

"Fine, then you leave me no choice," She warns.

"What are you going to do?" I laugh.

"Me?" She shakes her head, "I'm not going to do anything, but I know someone who will" I furrow my brows, confused by what she means.

She then did the most childish thing she could've possibly done. She told on me.

"Dad!" She yells, pouting her lip.

"Yes?" He asks, looking up at us both.

"Stella won't come with me to ride the roller coaster even though I told her I was scared to go alone," she tries her hardest to look innocent, even though she was far from that.

"What? No, that's not true," I say, defending myself.  Dad can't be gullible enough as to believe this load.

"Stella, go ride the roller coaster with your sister." He says, nodding his head as he looks at me. I look at him as if he gained two heads, "But dad-"

"Now," he repeats, his voice stern.

I sigh and roll my eyes. I turn back to Jewels who is smirking and cross my arms, "Let's go."

She pats my back, "I knew you'd see it my way."
