"Of all the places on Earth why did I go and chose a place where the sun hurts my face?" you grumbled to yourself, making your way down the path to the shop.
Your stomach was in knots at the thought of having to be at the shop all day with Soon-ja, since you literally broke all her rules in the span of 24 hours.
Pushing through the doors, you shuddered at the door chimes crashing loudly against the glass.
"A-Ajumma?" you spoke, half tip-toeing into the shop.
You heard rustling coming from inside the staff room, followed by the tired shuffling sounds of Soon-Ja's feet.
The door suddenly swung open, smashing against the wall.
"I thought I told you not to go into the sea." she scolded, feet planted firmly in the doorway.
"I-I didn't I-"
"I can smell the salt water on you Y/N!" she spat, narrowing her eyes at you.
"But Ajumma, I showered!"
Wow, that sounded even more ridiculous out loud.
"When will you accept that I always know more than you think I do." she grumbled, pointing her finger at you accusingly.
You lifted your arms in surrender, unable to form a good enough lie.
"Okay, you got me. I went into the sea. But no one saw me, it was just for a moment!" you half-confessed, opting out of telling her about the close call with the divers.
She didn't speak she just stared at you, as if she was waiting for more.
"That's it. I-I swear" you mumbled, making your way over to the till with your hands still raised.
The old woman just shook her head at you.
"We'll talk later. Get to work"
You nodded, putting your bag onto the counter and picking up the order list for the day.
Phew, that was close, you thought to yourself, rubbing your head against the headache threatening to make your day even harder.
You picked through the papers, filling each one carefully and placing them into their respected boxes.
No outside deliveries today, thank god.
You tried to avoid eye contact with Soon-ja, sat in the corner shooting daggers at you from over the top of her romance novel.
You sighed in relief at your phone buzzing in your pocket.
Finally, a distraction.
